jam clay in both sides. Adjust level off hull with clay. Keeps thread from getting resin in them. Mix up some epoxy or I did ve resin with glass spheres, cabosil, and 1/2 inch glass chop. Can add pigment for coloring.

lay Ufos nut up and squish into the peanut butter consistency putty. Cut some thin glass and put a hole in middle. Use the glass to smooth the putty into a tapered to nut surface. Once you have that done

apply resin as you would to regular glass and finish smoothing it over.

You can get some veil cloth and 3M 77 spray adhesive adhesive. Spray the adhesive on the back and put the veil cloth on the back then let it set up.

Now you can cut your carbon kevlar with out it fraying all over. It still will a bit but not very much.
Thanks for the tips on the mounts Blair!

Do you then pull the veil cloth off during layup?

No veil cloth, just spray adhesive.

If you don't want to use veil cloth just spraying the back with the spray adhesive works too. Just give it 20 minutes to set and you can cut it. I found that out later. I stumbled across that by accident

Excellent tips. Thank you sir!

I go one step further and vac. bag a couple layers of 20oz carbon over the incerts. I use the clay method usually and milled carbon/resin past.

Funny you mention that. I recently purchased a setup for vacuum bagging. I had to make some repairs to a propane tank enclosure on my toyhauler rv this weekend. I figured it was the perfect time to practice before I do anything on my skis. Some mistakes were made and lessons were learned. I'll be bagging everything I do from now on I think.
