Installing limiting rope on stock SN pole

Installing a Blowsion limiting rope on a SN right now. Should I run the eyelet bolt in place of the steering stop pin, or do I need to find a longer eyelet bolt that will fit through the thicker part of the pole?

You need to convert that pole to a RN pole.....

I would say you could probably drill a hole about an inch forward (toward the nose) of the stop bolt and use a ss eye-bolt with very large fender washers or either side of the pole.....

This hull is all but done, so I'm swapping everything into a RN hull next winter.

I found a SS bolt that's long enough. The one that comes with Blowsion's rope doesn't fit a stock SN pole.

I attached a piece of braided belt to the stop bolt then the limiting rope to the braided belt. My stop bolt is doing double duty.

The belt is hidden when not attached to the rope.

Hey Dave, check out my profile page. I have limiting strap pics in there that might help. For hardware I like ACE hardware they have a decent stock of SS. I used (2) 1/4'' x 1.5 eyelets with large flat washers, then a 1/4'' snap ring. I like the eyelet in the bottom as well so I can remove the rope completely w/o much hassle. I wouldn't worry so much about drillin your handle pole it will hold up fine. Now some people will tell you the eyelets and snap ring will bend so take it for what its worth. IMO it depends on how hard and how much you will depend on your rope. Good luck.

If your wonderin why my pole has a bracket instead of an eyelet. I installed a setup on an 08 and the steering stop is casted in the new skis. I just swapped out my eyelet for his bracket.

ACE hardware is my secret for stainless hardware too. The one near me has a great selection of METRIC STAINLESS hardware, way more than Lowes of Home Depot. I am using an ss eyebolt at both ends of my rope and haven't bent them yet...granted I can't really ride that hard with a near stock 650. I used ss threaded chain link (like a snap-ring but without the snap), the thought of sharp edged snap-rings doesn't make me feel good, I have heard too many stories of them tearing people up.

Good luck with your setup, let us know how it turns out.

Anyone tried using one of these eye nuts on the stop pin?

I have one of those on mine. The biggest problem is... in order to make the threaded part long enough the eye is huge. So you either put a 2" pole pad on the hood or slam the eye bolt into a smaller pad and just replace the pad when it starts getting worn. I'm thinking about just extending the rope and putting it through the pole with a knot and completely doing away with the eye bolt. Replacing rope is easier than replacing the pad.
