For guys riding aftermarket hulls, are you transferring over registration from a different ski or insuring as a titled aftermarket hull? I'm not sure which way I'd like to go on mine

Transferring titles is illegal via federal law. I highly recommend against it. Most likely, nothing will ever come of it. But if it does, you're boned.
I inquired with my state (WA) about how to get a homebuilt title. It sounds like a fairly simple process (I submit application + bill of materials, they issue title + vin). We'll see.

And keep in mind that if the insurance co. should ever find out that the title you're insuring is not the actual hull, you're also boned.

I tryed to get AMICA to insure my SJ. They covered my car and I had a umbrella policey. When I told them about my SJ, they required that I buy coverage for the SJ from another incsurance co or the they would cancel the umbrella policey. It was funny, they would send literiture on why not to buy a boat. Progressive liability was $260 (in Atlanta Ga). After a few years AMICA told be to go some where else.
