Is filling the crossover a good mod for freestyle if you run dual 44 mikunis? I can't figure out if it's good for freestyle or only for racing. Thanks.

Devcon from McMaster Carr Just rough up the casting real well and fill then I sand the manifold nice and flat.

Yes VERY.
I was also running stuffers that an engine builder sold me :banghead: and screwed with the carbs for months till I took the stuffers out like Wax said and it was also night and day and very easy to tune.

I works great for freestyle and racing. Filling the crossover passage on the intake manifold greatly improves the pulse signal clarity to the fuel pumps and makes the carbs more tunable. The passage is originally intended to offer smoother low-speed response for the stock engines.
Devcon Aluminum Putty is what I used to fill in my 760 intake manifold. Then I used 120 grit sand paper on a glass table to sand it down smooth and finished it with 600 grit wet sanding.

filling it in made my low to high transition more of a spike though. throttle response is more of a hit even when i try to gradually throttle it up now.

Agreed. It does take a little getting used to, but if you go back to a smoother powerband you miss the hit....

I talked to the guys from protec today. They did away with the crossover on their manifolds so it looks like I can just order one from them and go. I guess this mod is for all the guys that already had a manifold that had the old crossover. I am glad I don't have to worry about doing the mod, but finding out how to do it was cool. Thanks.
