Interesting? Perhaps a new approach......

I tried to get in on these a couple years ago myself but they had it well in hand. At 10,000 units the cost works out something like $800 a unit sonall it takes is some commitment...and some $$ backing.

The only way I see for these engines to take off is if Yamaha and Kawasaki get on board.
They have the capacity to place a big order of these engines thus lowering the price.

Time to get real Yamaha and Kawasaki are out of the game, no money in it , no interest in continuing it, if its done it will have to be done in the private business sector.

The truth is people sat around on their hands for too long and did nothing to prevent these two stroke bans, seriously there has been smokeless nonpolluting oil out for years, I run it in my skis, have for years, now lets see a show of hands here for all the rest of the people that run non polluting smokeless oil. I don't expect to see many.

People tend to not give a rats a$$ till it affects them directly, guess what its here , its now affecting you directly, did you personally do anything to try to prevent this from taking place, my guess is no, probably not.

I have come up with an awesome idea for a compressed air powered ski, no pollution, no oil, minimal weight, Same deal as with the rotary engine, the company does not want to produce the engines, they want to sell the rights to produce the engines.

Either way you are talking massive amounts of cash to get the ball rolling on something that might never pan out, IMHO the stand up crowd is too finicky and fickle to take such risks on.

now my biggest question is whats the power like? or is it gonna keep me at a whopping speed of 15 mph but keep me legal? if so id keep my 2smoker and run from the "2 stroke patrol"

Dude its not the smoke from the oil that got us kicked off our lake. Its the unburnt raw fuel that comes straight out the exhaust from a 2-stroke.

I'm really open to anything that will allow me to keep riding a standup at my lake. So far, every avenue I've explored have been ok as long as I was chasing buoys but nothing can match the power to weight ratio that a 2 stroke offers, which is a requirement for a freestyle ski. This looks very promising IMO.

Actually its both, the ETEC engines have lower emissions than a four stroke, it can be done.

not trying to be a downer but a rotary will be twice as much to rebuild and will take a good amount of knowledge todo properly...thats why i swap v8s into mazda rx7s haha....would be insane power potential for a ski though

My goodness... Rotary power is no more expesive then aftermarket SJ stuff. Thats for damn sure.

If I had 8mil, I would spend it all to get this going. I've been working on this since '96 but like one guy said earlier, they just want to sell the rights to the engine not produce them. Everyone wants to get something for nothing now days. How bout we pull together and make this happen? The interest is there. This is my life's dream to produce these things. If we don't do something soon we will see our sport die. We can't let that happen.

Actually its really worse than that with the compressed air engine I was looking at, they want to partner with you, what this essentially means is that they are out nothing, if you fail its all you, if you make something out of the deal they get a piece of the pie, I am going to contact them and say if they want a piece of the pie they need to cough up an engine so I can mock it up and test it.

Terry , check out IR air starters for diesels and turbines or even a turbo used as a cheap air motor with reduction of course . Sweet filament wound hulls ,hell ya .

Question:

Unburnt fuel from the jet ski 2-strokes is primarily from the water-cooled exhaust, correct?

I mean think about it. You don't have this excess unburnt fuel in your standard KTM 250 or Honda 250 dirtbikes... What is preventing the use of a hot exhaust (Non-water cooled) other than under-hood temperatures?? A hot exhaust would dramatically decrease emissions of jet skis...

Why not run a hot exhaust with a liquid-to-air intercooler? Hot pipe, cooled intake air, better emissions and MUCH MORE power... Water-cooled exhaust hinders the crap out of the two-stroke motor.

Unburnt fuel is from it being a 2 stroke engine and nothing else. On a well tuned one, there is little of it. But still way more than a four stroke.
