Freestyle Iridium spark plugs

Does anyone use iridium plugs in there ski?

I use them in all my other two stroke toys but just standard NGK in the ski. I know they cost more but is it worth it.

I've had some bad luck in the past with the iridium tips breaking off on those BR8EIX spark plugs. They weld that 0.6mm iridium electrode on the end and it even says not to gap them on the box. They were mainly design to last in 4-stroke engines for high mileage applications and are not suited for a vibrating two cylinder 2-stroke engine. I'd go with the 2-stroke ngk racing plug with the solid tops if you want the one piece fine wire electrode type plugs. These plugs use more copper inside so they're just a bit more costly than the stock plugs but they are specifically designed for the 2-stroke engine. They're made for racing and have a deep seated copper core with a wider heat range which is more resistant to fouling. Also they have the fine-wire center electrode which provides better sparking and enhanced ignitability. The non resistor plugs deliver more amperage with less voltage and are more suited for marine use or racing applications. Resistor plugs were mainly designed for radio suppression and emi interference problems which are often not needed in a jet-ski.

I think that #ZERO has written quite negatively about iridium spark plugs a few times. I don't have any experience with them.

Twostrokes run narrow gaps and rich mixtures. This environment does not place high demands on the spark plug. A modern car ignition has 3X the energy and large gaps so they can run very lean without misfiring. Exotic metals make the plug last 100K miles. FYI, NGK made a fine electrode version of their standard plug, I could never tell any difference in the way it ran over a B8ES..

I have run, and like, the Autolite XS4063. They will just go forever without fouling. The Seadoo 787 rfi is hard on spark plugs and the XS4063 seems to last much longer in those as well. I've also noticed quicker starting and improved idle with those plugs. The ones in my 650sx have been in place for about 6 seasons now!
