Is 12/17 a good prop?

I have a 2000 rn sj with 62t/61x 701 ported by tlr, protec pipe, head, stock 144mm pump. just finished this thing up and took it out with stock 13/16 aluminum prop. it seems to run out ok but not enough prop on the bottom has plenty of power just seems like it spins out and doesn't pull hard off the bottom. i have a solas 12/17 sitting here and was wondering if it would be any better. any help would be most appreciated!

Everyone will have a diff answer Jim. For me the Solas 13/17 repitched to 13/16 and cut back 3mm was THE ticket! Arm yanking pull and 49MPH top speed....

Skat-Trac 12/17 swirl prop is one of the best out there in my opinion!!! Great for any 701 based motor with limited mods and stock pump. Great Rec prop. You will not be disappointed.

X2

12 x17 scat swirl is a great prop for a limited boat .... tune it with the nozzle size (try several sizes 87 to 83 ). Imo the scat swirl is more forgiving than the 9x15 hooker. I assume the solas would be close ? Try the solas first since you have it . Tiny Tachs (RPM gauge ) are a good tool for determining prop size as well , there is one on the board for sale 25 bucks I think.

Cool deal...yeah i will go ahead and toss it in since i already have it and try it. Just wanted to get an idea and some opinions, hadn't really heard much on that pitch prop. THANKS!!

I am running a Skat 12/17 C75 Big hub and I have no complaints! Art at Jetworks bored my nozzle for me since he built my motor. Can't go wrong with that prop as others have stated.
