is -6 too much?

on my sj i just put on a -2 turnplate. i have a -3.5 stock pole and a lowered bracket. i really liked the feel with the stock plate but love my new quick steering. with my new set-up i am all the way in front of my tray. it feels pretty uncomfortable and i cant get the nose up as high as before. i ride mostly at the lake and plan to ride surf a couple times a year. am i the only one that feels -6 is too short? maybe im possibly just looking for a reason to buy a new aftermarket pole.

i'v noticed with a shorter setup its hard to have a loose pole. not sure what you are running, but take the spring out if its in their and crank on the bolt. or look into a AM stiffie pole. AMW i'm in love with. I am starting to try and roll and i need to get as low as possible, a stubby pole helps alot with flatwater freestyle.

I have a -4 inch pole and a -3 inch steering setup. Which I don't like and I will be going back to a stock turnplate. Anyhow my handle bar hits the hood. Well not the bar but my trim lever and the throttle. So -7 inches is too short. You will get used to the -6 inches but it might take a while and if your like me the ski will never feel really comfortable.

So yes sometimes -6 can be too much

On my white boat, I have a -3 stock pole and a blowsion short turnplate. The pole bracket is stock. I am ~6'. I like it a LOT. On my black boat, I have a -2 UMI pole, blowsion short turnplate, and a Waterdawg bracket. I haven't gotten this boat in the water to see if I like it yet or not, but I will let you know soon!:splatt:
