cheap and slow huh haha i want something legit. should i pass on it and get a sj? can you ride the 650sx in the surf or no way?

:ugh2: If your comparing a 650 to an SJ most guys will tell you theirs no contest.....

If your looking for a first time ski and dont know alot, 650's are great. Easy to work on and parts are MUCH cheaper than other platforms. You can usually pick up a 650 for cheap and you will get more power than a 440/550. The hull is bigger and not as fun as the 440/550. Thats why a 650 conversion ski is so great.

All in all I rode my good friends 650sx for about 3 seasons, I thought it was the greatest thing ever.:burnout:

The 750 is alot better ski than the 650 but a sn superjet blows them both out of the water hands down and does not cost much more.650's go for 500 to 800, 750's go for 800 to 1200 and the sn superjet goes from 1000 to 1500 but is a way better ski!

I had a 1987 650sx. Rode that till the 750sx cameout and bought a brand new '94 750sx. The 750 was a HUGE improvement all around! Currently, I ride a 98 750sxi-pro and love it. I would not bother with a 650sx. Focus on the 750- sx, sxi, sxi/pro. I have no personal experience with yamaha, although I believe, from what I have been reading that the SJ 701 (SN or RN) would be a very good choice too.

A 650sx is a good starter ski, for cheap .... And there is a lot of them out there, which makes them go down in valve compared to yamaha's .. Riding an older ski will make you really focus and become and even better rider when you get on a better ski .... If you know your way around a 2 stoke I would start with a 650sx, ride it for a year or two .. Pick up 86+ 550 have funn, learn some tricks .. Then sell them both a upgrade to a 750 or a 701 superjet .... (well that is my personal plan) And it's nice to be able to ride with a buddy or two .. It makes it more enjoyable to have someone riding with you and not at the beach waiting ..

750 is much better than a 650
the 650 rides like a tank and turns like a 60's Buick with blown suspension
but a 650 SN is even better and should be around the same price as a 750
keep looking

A running 650sx is a good ski if its dirt cheap and if you have no performance expectations. Almost all old skis are in junk condition (even Superjets!) so concentrate on finding the very best one you can afford regardless of what it is.

congrats!
that is a better ski and you can enjoy more than the SX. Bars, grips and trigger are about as much as I would do unless you can find a pipe and/or impeller really cheap.

Rock those graphics, it's cool to be retro. Get a pinstrip eraser wheel to remove your decals...

thank you! i wanna do a paint job on it something legit. i have a buddy who use to race skis and said he can still get parts for cost so im gonna try and go threw him on whatever i dont find deals on. what was that a pinstripe wheel?

Got a good laugh thanks. Glad you went with the 750. I had the same ski and I had alot of fun on it. While stripping the decals I pulled off a little bit of paint, so i painted it Kawasaki green. Great attitude, Welcome.
