It may look the same, but they take a cyclical loading each time the piston comes to TDC and BDC. It stresses it in wone way and then the reverse. That leads to fatigue and failure. It also was probably bent a little when it was removed from the piston. I personally wouldn't chance it.
I also was always tole to put the opening either at the bottom or top. Never put it at 3 or 9 o clock position. Again this is because of the cyclical loading.
If it was a cheap engine you didn't care about, reuse it. If it is the engine you plan on ridding all summer long, buy a new one! Cheap out now, be broke down middle of summer!
