I think it's pretty normal for an older ski. I know my blaster has some of those same cracks around the motor mounts also.

I know the cracks you are talking about...I've had boats with them before. I think it is a common thing. I never worried about it but I am not too hard on my boats unlike some others here. Guess it depends on your riding style, but another layer of glass wouldn;t hurt anything.

The 94 sq nose i am building has all the same "damage" as yours. I don't feel that it is much of a issue at all, but I am reinforcing with 3 layers of 5.5oz carbon/kevlar just to be safe.
I would recomend going for the 8.9 oz S-glass satin weave that US composites sells. Keep the resin ratio low with a squegy. It will be very strong, and lighter weight then standard e-glass.

That should be plenty strong. Biax is e-glass witch is fine, but S-glass will be 25-30% lighter per weight value.
I'm really not overly concerned about the weight, were talking maybe a pound or 2 and I weigh only 150. More interested in total package strength, and didn't see any need to be doing carbon at over $50/yd. That twill with black resin is going to look sharp, and should conform easily around motor mounts and such. Thats one reason I decided to stay with 4 pound foam in the back, after seeing how thin the deck is. I fully intend to beat the crap out of it in the surf, don't want to regret not making it strong enough to last a few years.
