Hey Kyle its also cheaper to buy a nozzle thats bored on the x then to do it yourself and then you can swap them in and out

I have one that does not have trim and another that I was about to put on that has trim.

I'll just go ahead and bore the non trim one and try it before I put my trim system together.

My nozzle is bored out to 85.5 running a Solas 13/17 and a stubby cone. Also got my engine ported. And it is night and day over stock. I can blip the throttle and the ski hops right out of the water.

Interchangable rings and pump cones sizes are how you tune a pump. 90% of people do it all ass backwards and try to find a pitch that works with their fancy non adjustable trim reduction nozzle. At 267.00 a pop they just go with what someone on the phone tells them to run. It's a joke when I ride some people's expensive setups that only sound like they rip because of the stickers on the side of their ski. Tuning is a lost art for most recreational riders.

What rings are you talking about? can you show a pic? Is it a spacer to increase the volume?

I'm about to break in a JM 781BB, Chris says to use the 10/16 Hooker (which I purchased), and I have a #zero nozzle, I think its 85.5mm and I have a stock cone.
Currently, i'm just listening to people on the phone/ interwebz. So, yeah, i'm that guy.

I have no issue learning how to tune it myself, but I don't fully understand the ring reference.

I forgot!
They are stainless rings with different I.D. I have 91mm - 86mm I think. I got a bunch anyways and gave a few to friends. They slip into the reduction nozzle. And use set screws to stay in.

I think solas had the adjustable nozzle size option on their pump setups. Nozzle size is just another tool to tune your ski. It reduces backpressure on a prop. Go with what jetmaniac told you. He knows his stuff.

Jetmaniac is a salesman but he also rides more than most of us and speaks from a ton personal experience as well.

For those interested in the adjustable reduction nozzles, here's a couple pics. All I seem to be able to find lately are R&D units for seadoos and a couple Yamaha couches. Nothing that will fit a 144mm yamaha pump. I know I have seen one before and wish I had bought it.

Yup checked him out in Daytona. Lots of parts. I am just stating that if you want an adjustable reduction nozzle I doubt he will recommend something he does not sell let alone needs to be modified. OCD is correct. If you want a nozzle for a 144/148 with adj rings that you can buy new, they are non existent. You can call John at blowsion and have glen at skat make one for you. Both guys are great to deal with. If I had to do it again I would just get blowsion to send me their "skat" blowsion nozzle, order my rings from skat and have my welder beef it up and bore it out to accept the rings. Just get a 155 pump, skat still sells adj gp1300 race nozzles and they come with 2 rings

Giddy up!

Not just lots of parts....lots of SURF ride time...and lots of knowledge...like many others around here. I hear you though loud and clear. I have ridden high dollar strokers that SUCK because the pump was not dialed in.

I can't figure out why everyone went to big hub hookers on stock pumps! Small hub solas cutback is where its at for 144 stock pumps IMO.
