Is ok to leave the ski upside down?

So I want to paint the hull on my ski. I'm thinking about flipping it over between saw horses while I sand, prep and paint. Will it hurt it to be upside down for maybe a week or two?

i would take out the battery, gas tank & water box. water box holds water and when upside down may track back and sit in your motoer for afew weeks. how much would that suck

Just pull the motor your hull will be easier to manage.... how long does that take?

Plus it is a good time to poke your head around and look for any issues before the season. You never know what you will find (worn steering cable, midshaft housing coming part, bad motor mount.) Better to find it now than out on the water.

This, it takes about an hour to get it all out

Actually, 15 minutes and you can have your motor removed.

1. Depending on the exhaust, loosen the hose clamps.
2. remove or disconnect battery (I suggest remove.)
3. disconnect start stop switch at the plugs out side electric box.
4. disconnect throttle cable at the carb(s).
5. Option, remove gas tank or exhaust hose from stinger to water box.
6. Remove 4 motor mount bolts.
7. Undo waterlines from through hull fittings (water lines coming in, and pissers).
8. remove complete fuel pickups out of tank and disconnect return lines.
9. unbolt electrical box from the bulkhead and place electrical box on top of cylinder.
10. Remove complete motor - Exhaust is still attached to the manifold. (you could remove the B Pipe Expansion Chamber of Drypipe Chamber to make a little easier).
11. Mark where shims were located for the bed plate.

All of this is actually a 10 minute job.

Years ago a buddy had 2 superjets, one with footholds, one motor was built and the other a limited, he could not make up his mind on which motor he liked in which hull. We got to where we would both work on one ski each, we could do complete motor swaps from one hull to the other in 30 minutes. We probably could not do it now, but would not be much longer than that.

motor takes no time to take out in the grand scheme of things. will give you a chance to clean the inside and look around. much easier to move hull around and the knowledge of being able to take apart the ski. make sure to watch your shims BTW. that would suck to mix those up ha
