Last time I went riding, I was on my B1 and my Buddy was on his X2. We did not know it, we had no way of knowing it, but the glue that held his exhaust outlet on was failing. This is a part that absolutely no one removes to maintenance. He jumped a wave, the rivets sheered, his boat sunk. His waterbox was not loose, no were any other components connected to the outlet. His hood foam had been removed by the previous owner. The ski sunk to the bottom, and would have been lost if we weren't wearing tow belts. It's a classic case of old poop breaking on an old boat.
That fairly nice looking X2 linked early in the thread is a 750 motor, with a stock 650 pipe and stock keihen carbs. No one tunes those carbs. We brought one to a professional who has lots of experience with older kawi race boats, and he told us it wasn't worth his time, come back with mikunis. No one I have ever spoke to in the X2 community can really tell me where to get keihen parts or what specs to use for various pipe, waterbox combos. They can barely tell you which prop to buy. So the X2 is question is likely a frakenboat that has never been tuned and never will be. I'm sure it would run good enough.
