Is there any difference in the pump section of a SN then a RN??

the bottom decks are identical. but if you look at a RN conversion, the front of a SN bottom deck must be chopped to match a RN top deck.

as for the pump section it should be identical.

Do it! cut that pump section out and put it into your X2 plug!

If I was making my own X2 molds, I would do the same with an SXR pump section. That way you have more intake grate/ride plate selections and no pump gluing in to do.

of course doing this with a SN or RN would be just as good. On that link I posted the other day, that si what the Japanese did with the 800 X2 hull they made. They use an SJ setup for the pump in them.

Personally, I think whichever way you go will be better than the stock 650 setup. Now if you were to make an SJ botton and X2 top... then you sir would be the man!

wouldnt it be cheaper/easier to just buy a conversion hood at that point?

Probably yes..

I would really like that Trinity 800 X2 but... if I am going to pay that much for an aftermarket/light weight hull, I would just get an SXR hull from them and get a conversion hood. Problem is no one is making SXR conversion hoods at the moment.

But there is still a fond place in my heart for the older style X2, I own two of them. But I want one a little more updated with the better pump and a few other restylings...

Putting a SJ pump into the X2 as is....is no big deal. No major modifications needed. But I dont think I want to deal with putting a SJ pump into the X2 I am building. Too much PIA with the midshaft. Although since I have over a grand into the pump I have now (and love it) I might still go that route. The real reason I would graft the SJ pump/intake channel into the X2 would be purely for the ability to run all SJ intake grates and rideplates. Plus the SJ's intake tract is much better designed then the x2.

Yep, that is probably why the Japanese did it to the 800 X2 hull they make. Only downside is...
