Other Is this a 44 or 46?

sbn44 or sbn46? I searched and come up with a post identifying a 46 as having a 1/4" "flange on the bottom" whereas the 44 had a longer flange. Nobody had confirmed this and I am unsure.

The funny part is that my super duper accurate cheap tape measure and eyeballs say an inch and 13/16 which comes out to 46.0375mm. Can anyone with a known 44 compare the exit to that I have shown, primarily the height of the transition from cast to machined.

Well I'm getting the same thing you are with an eye balled tape measure but my digital caliper says 45mm. However, since the measurement for carbs is actually taken at the throat which is slightly smaller than the bottom of the carb, you most certainly have a 44mm carb.

I've been told that those straight pressed in fuel line bosses out the body of the carbs make it oem... Aftermarket have the threaded 45 degree ones.

44 it is, if you look at where the inner venturi is the body is necked town to 44mm. Of course this fact was hidden by the closed butterfly.

Or you could just look below the fuel pump on the carb and it will say some thing like
mac44 or mac46
Some times the letter are different, they will say 64x or 61x if its of that style engine
In which case you know its a 44.

Edit: Incorrect information follows:

For future reference of anybody else wondering what the answer is, or for somebody to point somebody else here:
If it says 46 then it's a 46, if it doesn't, it isn't. These are on the bases, pump side.

Left: 44 (off of a stock snsj)
Middle 46 (bought as a 44, seller was incorrect, doubled my investment)
Right 46
So as a correction, the machined surface on the manifold side is taller for a 44, others have asked for a picture to compare and here it is (also there are only 3 holes on the barrel of the carb for the 44's low speed circuit, compared to 4 on the 46. Is this true in all cases?)

measure the distance apart the bolt holes are on the suspected carb, then compare them to the others. IF it is wider, then you have a Wetjet 46mm

damn, just did some reading and the wetjet carb isn't the same as the normal sbn46. anybody else in a similar situation willing to swap one of the carbs for a matching pair?

There are many variation 44 carbs some are 3 hole some are 4 hole. The 4 hole carbs must be matched because the hole size configurations vary... compare a 4 hole aftermarket to a 4 hole oem and you will see the different size arrangement...I learned this from Chucky.
