Super Jet is this impeller good for low end?

i found a skat trak 14/20 swirl impeller on ebay for cheap. its in good condition and its for a superjet. would this be good for low end on a stock 701 2007 sj? like i said its cheap and will save me about $150 on a new one(im 14 lol). the only mod i have is an xr tech freestyle intake grate that hooks ups awesome but i feel the stock impeller is holding me back. ive heard of buying an 08+ impeller but might as well not waste my $$$ on that when ill end up getting aftermarket anyway. any responce is greatly appreciated. thanks, Gage.

(p.s. i also found a type 4 fpp dry pipe with msd water injection on ebay for $250 hmm...:scratchchin:)

Actually the swirl impellers are pitched differently than the hooker impellers. For example, a 13/18 skat swirl is comparable to a 9/15 hooker. That said, the impeller would probably be good as a freestyle prop for a strong limited or big bore engine setup but I do believe that you are quite a ways from that.

Dry pipes make good power but may require a little more work to keep working properly. If you get a dry pipe, you definitely don't want that prop. Dry pipes often lack some low end power but make up for it with better mid to top end power. The water injection helps but if you run too tall of a prop, you'll really hurt your power because you can't spin up the engine fast enough to use the better power of a dry pipe.

im just gonna keep saving up for my bpipe then. ive been doing so for a while. or if i get lucky and find a used one. thanks for all the help Waternut:biggrin:

ok ive narrowed it down to 2 impellers a skat trak swirl 13-17 or a hooker 9-15. which is better low end hit? any opinions anyone?

It all depends. First Hooker impellers are all big hub impellers that are 'cutback' 7mm. The big hub increases the pressure faster and the cutback moves the impeller blades closer to the pump vanes. The combination of low pitch, big hub, and cutback all make Hooker impellers a great choice.

The skat impellers are offered in small hub and big hub, with cutback as an option. So it is important to know what you are comparing.

I would compare the hooker 9/15 to a big hub skat 12/17 with cutback.

ok ive found a used skat trak swirl 12/17 for $150. saves me alot on a new one. i think im gonna get this.

Remember that used impellers often are worn on the outside edges and will not perform like new or newer props will. It costs about 100. With shipping to restore an impeller so choose wisely so you don't pay twice. Also, the 08-up props are a good budget choice.
