Is this limp mode?

Been a while since I went into limp mode on a ski, mainly because I take off the wire

97 superjet 701

Was running great yesterday then my buddy fell off and idled over to me, turned ski off and we sat in the water for a good 10 mins just talking

I got back on my superjet and as soon as I went to give it gas it was limping I think

This is not my ski but this is what it sounded like, in and out of water

Keep in mind I have my overheat sensor disconnected, could it be the CDI?

At first I thought it was fuel loaded up so I turned fuel off, reved it, turned fuel back on and seemed to fix it

Took the ski out today, ran great for about 30 mins then started doing the same thing, definitely not limp mode but sounds like it, ot was doing it a little higher rpm this time to where I could get up on plane

Went to beach then went back out and was fine for about 5 mins, then was doing it low rpms but made it ways to mid rpms

I have a video on my phone but don't know how to upload it but out of water it's still doing it

Check your overheat sensor wiring. I chased the same issue for weeks and the PO had the wire for the overheat sensor pluged into a ground and my ski was doing the exact same thing...

Overheat wire is still there but not connected, thought it was maybe grounding itself out the first day so I wire tied it up out of the way then started doing it

Could be an exhaust leak. I've had skis that run great. This has happened to my Superjet and a few buddies Kawasakis. Runs great when air's flowing through... But stop or slow down with the hood on... Chokes until the fumes are cleared.
