Get out to a local freeride and watch and learn or watch videos and you'll pick it up. Learn how to ride in surf stance. I actually started watching a bunch of surfing videos. Learning how to read the waves is everything for wave riding, and body English.

Totally agree.
There is no RIGHT way to ride surf, go out, have fun and learn.... Every rider and ski will be a little different. Watch other riders and get out and ride, tray time always works the best

Don't ride alone. Surf is a completely different ballgame when it comes to stuff just "going wrong". And when you do ride with buddies agree to keep up with each other until you both back on the beach.

By far don't let go. If you ditch in the river often; practice not. A wave has much more power than a river wave. They are being pushed up too. White wash equals less water for pump. I used to surf and have only riden a hand full of times but it's a lot of fun. Knowing how the waves will work is important. Luckily I statred with that. A ski in the surf is about the most intense workout you can get the first times out.
