Super Jet It'l DO *ROCKER-D* SN Build

Picked up my buddy's old seized up 650 SN a few weeks ago to re-build for a all around ski. Im in the Navy so who knows where ill be stationed next (flat water / surf). He had enough extra parts to build almost a whole nother ski (to bad he didnt have a 61x core to go with it :261:)

I started out stripping it down to a bare hull. Ripping off all the old turf ect. I haven't done much with the hull since last week but I was working on the seized 6m6. I wanted to build a 62t/61x motor but figured it would be cheaper to rebuild the 6m6 and build a 701 in my spare time... Come to find out the 6m6 was seized HARD! :261: Took me 3 hours to press the pistons out... During that time I realized I have every tool known to man to work on aircraft and not ONE metric... anything! I made due with what i had on hand (seems to be how we work on F-18s haha) after i stripped down the motor i realized it would cost about the same price to rebuild the 650 as it would be to buy a running 61x.photo 1.jpgphoto 2.jpgphoto 3.jpgphoto 4.jpg
(old 6m6)
Picked up a 61x off the forums last week and I'm waiting on fedex to show up right now!

I knew the foam was soaked so i cut out the tray (tray had cracks and was all warped), spent the better half of Sunday de-foaming... Any one planning on doing this in the future beware... sliced open both pinkey fingers and a knuckle (what else is new!)... Used a wire wheel with a regular Dewalt (didnt work the best) ended up using a BA crowbar and a BA flat head!

I think im going to stay away with putting in a scupper or a one way. Im going to run dual bilge with stock bilge. I just don't want to worry about it leaking in the future... Lowes foam going in the bottom of the hull:cool: and partially in the gunnys. I'm going to custom build my foot holds and fill in any voids in the gunnys with 2 part to hold it together (if i need it). Planning on re-enforcing the the front and rear with 2 layers 17oz Biax and 3 in the nose. Im going to keep the original pole till i get the funds to upgrade. If any one has one cheep let me know ;-) I want to set the ski up for future upgrades... id rather spend my money on making the ski bullet proof and rideable than making an arm ripper and cracking the hull in a week... Idk any thoughts? This is a budget build too, Im open to advice!

61x motor (see what happens this winter, i just want to ride so itl do stock)

I underestimated how long it would take to grind down the ribs up front... Angle grinder works great but it's messy as all hell! Even with the shop vac runnin.

It'l DO 94' SN Build

Ok so it's been a while since I've updated my progress. Finished re-enforcing front and rear bond lines, bottom, and pole mount 17oz biax... Installed drain plugs, filled bottom with blue foam and sides with 2part.

Then decided I wanted rocker, so I cut the back 3", ground down the pipe with my angle grinder SLOWLY! Put out a couple foam fires! I made some blanks out of the broke ass old tray. Layers some 12oz biax over the new angle cuts, pressed in the blanks, the another layer of 12oz biax over the outside. Should hold? Lol wish I would of done all that before I added the foam! Still need to clean up rough cuts and 5200 the ex pipe.

Now I'm back to the tray, I'm makin my own holds for 1" plush padding. Could use some criticism right about now! What's everyone think? Are the tabs a little big?

Dang!! That looks awesome for custom made holds! It doesn't look too big to me. Remember, the 1 inch padding can take up a lot of room in the holds. If it feels too big, you can put thinner padding to make it fits good. Grind it thin if it's too tight.

P.S. Your feet are going to be COMFY in there.....

Layed 3-4 layers of 6 oz glass over the nose mold. Came out pretty good, need to build up some layers of biax on the inside today and then pull out the foam from the nose. Should have it all glassed back in by tomorrow night!ImageUploadedByTapatalk1363456981.333801.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1363457011.216531.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1363457038.866848.jpg

Thanks Burton, Alamo, Peppers! It's taken me forever and I keep changing my mind but eventually I'll get there.
