I go to winterize my ski awhile back and the bendix was sticky, so no startie.

Month goes by, free up bendix, silicone the nose of the starter, decide to powder coat chamber while it's apart. Then head pipe, jack up two adjustment screws, order twisters, wait for those. Play with water spray pattern idea...

Put it back together today, get everything looking great... Hit the start button... *click*
Pull the head pipe back off, pull ebox (screws heads are 90% stripped, I got fiore'd) open it up and there is corrosion everywhere.

Sonofabish....

I hate this hobby sometimes.

This good right?

Seriously though, what will remove this corrosion? Should I hit it with some CLR maybe?

Promise me you will use a new gasket when putting that back together. lol Just think in a few more years hopefully you will have gone through all the mistakes and won't have to worry about doing them any more.

Swap I have a nice 64x box that is in excellent condition. I just opened it for the first time and stole the relay. You can have it if you want for shipping and maybe a few bucks to cover my efforts. Would be way bettet than tryin to fix that thing.

Got screws.... And I thought of something.

The corrosion looks a lot like the stuff on battery terminals.
So... I bought a Pepsi (they didn't have Coke) it's soaking right now.

I have a new seal on order from the maniac.

I found close to the same screws at ACE in their stainless section and just force fed them to the plastic cover...new gasket of course and hit the grommets and top and bottom edge with gasket sealant or Honda bond. That thing will be more watertight than a frog's p---y.

actually believe it or not...i use boiling water to clean battery terminals....does a super job...and its cheaper than pepsi....but i tried that on my nasty box....i didnt have much luck...so i just blasted it and re painted with epoxy paint..

Yeah so.... The Pepsi pretty much turned the remaining white corrosion brown.

I know a guy with a sand blaster. I'll run it by his place this week.
