Freestyle Jet Pump ears

Careful, I believe the ears are welded on prior to final boring of pump tube. I tried tig welding to a similar wall tube to test the feasibility of exactly what you’re doing and the tube went out of round enough I didn’t wanna risk it with a expensive pump.

Just don't weld it all at one time, sure it won't look like a perfect stack of dimes weld but it will help it from warping. Using a chill block helps too, something for it to transfer the heat out of the pump. Good luck man

My concern is if a round tube warps it tightens up in some points and pulls away on opposing sides. You can turn away the tight spots but where it’s pulled away the radial clearance will be wide and the pump may not perform like it does now.

My thoughts were to drill and tap the pump housing and bolt them on with some m6 x1.0 cap screws with some epoxy between to bond them on. My thoughts are the the o ring receiver on the front does most of the work, the front feet would just need to help disperse some of the load the nozzle ears are taking.

Are you tearing up the silicone o rings or breaking nozzle feet?

That's the plan, tack then short weld, jump around to mitigate warp.

Plan on using the hull as the initial jig then bolt to another aluminum pump for heat soak and keep everything true.

My ski uses 8mm bolts to hold the pump in, so the mounting ears have slop which I've seen cause the pump to slide back and loose seal to duct shoe when only using 2 bolts. Plus I dont want issues with breaking the reduction nozzle and spread the load being only on 8mm bolts.
