Other Jet ski ban , lake powell , mead , mohave ???

The ban is just stupid in general. What are they supposed to do when a tree falls on the boat ramp? They bring out their truck with a 4 wheeler in the back with a 2 stroke chainsaw and cut it up. The NPS probably puts out more emissions then we do with our skis...

Honestly, is there anything that can be done to prevent this from going national?
VOTE!! Get rid of the tree huggers. Research who you think you are voting for and what they really stand for and tell everyone who shares your hobbies and views. That is how they got in office in the first place. We where all working our asses off and enjoying our hobbies and before we realized it they had all the right people in place. I'm just as guilty

Also avoid spending money at companies that support stuff like this. I believe the owner of one of the casinos here is responsible for some of the Tahoe ban which set the standards for the current bans happening.

You guys are absolutely right but this ban has been put into motion. It already has momentum that needs to be stopped. I dont think that getting the tree huggers out will stop the ban (although its is a very important first step). It may just slow it down. We need someone willing to activily pursue putting an end to it. What congressman is going to step up on behalf of a small population of stand up jet skiiers. I wish someone with power would step up. This all makes me think of "House of Cards" lol. We need someone like kevin spacey. Or we need all the companies who live off of this industry to take a stand. Us little people dont have the means to win a fight like this.....I need to just buy my own lake i guess so i can make my own rules. No liberals, boaters, couch riders, or fishermen allowed. now who wants to finance me lol

Isn't West Marine a huge donator to Blue Water Network or one of those groups against PWC?

Why not compile a list and start writing letters stating why you will take your business elsewhere? They don't have to know what kind of vessel you have. Or how many.

I swear I'm not a conspiracy guy but what was going around a couple years ago in the 2 stroke snowmobile world was when they eventually bad 2 strokes all together there was a clause that if you own one and leave the country it will NOT be allowed back in. This was to help speed up the "cleansing" period is what they called it. We where all looking into it due to racing. Don't say it could never happen.

Damn thats crazy, good to know.

X2 on the Lake Powell question. Our week is the first week in August and I will probably chance it.

Has anybody done a DI transplant in a stand up or After Market hull for a stellar flat water flipable boat?

Was the 1100di a triple and heavy motor? Ski Doo has a 130 HP twin for snowmobiles but not sure if it would have a
powerband conducive for a jet pump.

I'm gonna be at Lake Powell in two weeks the truck I'm driving has a shell on it so I'm gonna put the ski in the back and hopefully drive on by

In western Canada there are many national parks which do not allow you to ride jetskis. the only thing that makes it acceptable is thats its a ban on all "motorized" activity in the interst of keeping the park prestine ie no boats, no fishing boats with little kickers, nothing...paddle or swim thats it. same goes for dirt bikes or atv's. in that regards it makes it easier to follow said rule as it applies to all users equally and is genuinly in the interest of conserving a corner of nature.. that being said i am also an avid mtn biker and they closed all the popular trails to bikers claiming we erode the soil yet they let all the horseback riders trample and :):):):) all over the trail because horse are "natural"...ya tell that to the family hiking behind the horses avoiding massive mud holes or crap..lol

on the plus side if there is a lake with a designated boat access its not restricted and can be used by pwc's, they do at times have areas they would like you keeping out of ie no boats beyond point xyz or such and such known terrain feature, most times in the interest of salmon spawning inlet or some such thing.

i do have to agree with you all down south in regards to the discrimination taking place..a huge majority of boat outboard motors are all two strokes polluting as much if not more, and what of the cigarette type boats with twin v8 454's and straight pipes throwing everything out back into the water..ya that doesnt pollute at all..

ultimately we are a "minority" group and trampling your right to ride as a much smaller backlash hence they start there..
the national park thing im use to and can work around given how much damn water we have here, that being said when all the other "non park" lakes start seeing such regulations...well....lets just hope it doesnt come to that

I especially like the part about them NOT banning two stroke outboards. Just the PWCs. Like Hugh had said- it is not so bad if they apply it evenly across the board. When they just pick out a small population who are likely putting out a small fraction of the pollution that is dumped into the lake it is hard to take...

Any updates on guys trying to go to Powell with their 2-stroke stand ups? I heard they get flagged at the mussel inspection station and will not be given a sticker required to be on the lake.

Although one guy heard that this year is a freebie and your fine this year but not next??

thanks

a couple guys have come into my shop that just got back from powell. They just ask at the gate if you have a 2 stroke, if you tell them no they will let you in. As of right now they do not know the difference, and dont know how to check. So i would say your good to go. If you could go in at night i don't think any body would bother you.
