Jetski hulls good bad the ugly

according to what ive heard is that every tem built freak is carbon with the exception of 2 or 3. he is apparently allergic to fiberglass fibers but not carbon so that explains all of the carbon hulls. mine is indeed fiberglass and pretty light too. it originally belonged to wavedaze dan. most of the gelcoat is sanded off of it. it has some soft spots just above the bond rail on the top and bottom decks where the bend is and the resin maybe ran down. im planning to put a 148 kavinci pump that is currently in my superjet with a ported lpw 735.

Another weak point on the Superfreaks (Carbon BA's in my experience) has been the bond rails at the back 24" or so of the ski. Have had to do minor reinforcement on both of mine with that.

There were supposedly a few swoopy sided freaks built with a badass bottom. I have 3 swoopy sided freaks and 2 of them appear to have a bottom that's very similar to a stock super jet. The 3rd one is supposed to be a badass bottom and swoopy top deck. The bottom on that one is very different (rockered on both ends, intake sits lower, seems to be a little bit wider) from the other 2, but it's not the same width as the circus bottom so I'm not sure if it's actually a badass bottom. It sure jumps out of the water better than a super jet, but not as much as a -5 badass or circus.
I sure hope whoever bought the molds starts popping out more hulls.

Yep that is exactly where mine has issues.

Good: superjets have doubled in value. A/M parts get their money back. My b pipe is worth what I payed for my ski originally.

-4.3 & -5 handle like a dream but not the best landing hull for big air. They slap hard. I miss the 2 I had. Not short enough to do flat water combo tricks unless the have huge power. Excellent freeride or rec boat. Build quality was garbage. They fall apart

I've never ridden one and I'm hoping that mine being glass and a little heavier will not have as hard a landing issue. I've heard the same thing that they land super hard partly because they're pretty light hulls.

I think it's more the shape of the bottom rather than the weight. The phantoms and chans land hard too and heavy ones.

Okay guys would love some input on what’s good out there nowadays. Been away from riding for ten years.my last ski was a super jet done by 24-7 with a lamey motor. I ride mix of every type of water.

If you ride every type of water including flatwater, I would say a short flatwater hull like a rickter xfs or equivalent would be best. Not best for huge surf but I like mine in 10 footers and chasing boat wakes. A bigger hull is going to suck for flat water and small boat wakes/surf.

That sounds like a good direction to go with xfs style hull for me I really like flat water stuff but also like me the wave days to.

That is why I said XFR. You have a deeper tray so more foot room for riding surf or chasing boats.

While I think it was a good attempt at surf stance, the XFR just doesn't work for suft stance. The front foot is too high and feels awkward. I've never seen anyone ride a modern XFR in surf stance like you would in an Edge.

The shape does create some slap issue like Buzzard mentioned. But I'd add that you'll likely be happy with your glass Badass.

I've ridden my -4.3 Carbon Badass back to back with a buddies -4.3 Glass Titan. It rode noticeably smoother. Almost like it was "in" the water more. Felt like I wasn't getting bounced around as much.
