Jetski hulls good bad the ugly

While I think it was a good attempt at surf stance, the XFR just doesn't work for suft stance. The front foot is too high and feels awkward. I've never seen anyone ride a modern XFR in surf stance like you would in an Edge.
Weird. I roll. Flip. 360. And do everything on my xfr surf stance. Xfr is by far the absolutely best all around hull. Strongest. Largest tray. Adjustable sponsons. Best aftermarket support. Best fit and finish.

Not sure prior to Fr1

Fr1/fs1 large hood. Smaller pump tunnel normal sj intake, 2.5 inches shorter than superjet I believe

Fr2/fs2 same as fs1 but better intake design. 4.5 inches shorter than superjet

Fr2evo/fs2evo slim hood. Better intake tract. Larger pump tunnel. Adjustable sponsons. Better layup. 4.5 inches shorter than superjet

2013?-2015 edge. Just a edge. A hull that does everything decent but nothing really good.

2016 edge. Same as the earlier edge but different sponsons. Believe the bottom.was lightly changed on the chines. Feels like a more planted ski to me.

2010?-2014 xfr/xfs. Evo style look. Rounded. Superjetty bottom. Just very short. Believe trays are the same between both.

2015+xfr/xfs stealth look. Angled. Better layup. More room inside. Xfs has smaller tray. Dual scuppers. No adjustable sponsons like xfr

Xfs2021 not sure. Buddy has one. Looks badass. Shorter

Edge 2021 buddy has one. Looks cool. Not sure on ride.

Thats my experience with them. A short version. And by no means final. There is a ton of variation with rickter.

2015 first year for the "Edge"
2016 Edge has wider bond flanges. Larger sponsons also I believe.
2021 Edge New Design, comes with front sponsons, splash guard and front foothold
XFR's all have longer tray than XFS.

Your right. They changed the rails to be huge like the evo

Also so.ething I forgot about the evo. The rails are the largest of all rickter skis. It also has the most amount of nose rocker of all the rickters. Most die hard riders say the fr2evo is the best strictly surf hull. The edge doesn't do as well in surf, but is much more fun flat water.

Its too bad we cannot get good pictures or other tech info on hull bottoms. I guess MFGs dont have enough sizes and shapes to sell so they have to make whatever's in stock look cool and sell it that way . At the same time we need customers who know what they are looking for and that takes too much effort for most.

@kevbo would you mind starting a thread on hull design. Mine was a dud and a little too focused on the X2 hull:

It's not like you can roll up to a dealer and spend an afternoon test riding rickters and xscream hulls like you are trying to decide between a Ford or Chevy truck.

What do you want people to do? Travel the country and beg people to ride their hulls and set up photo shoots for each one? You'd spend your hull money gathering info for the 200 other guys in the world in to aftermarket stand up jetski hulls.

At best you can read as many opinions on hulls decide on one or two and hopefully find someone willing to let you hop on. 9 times out of 10 people want a hull that can "flatwater flip but chase boats and also be ok in the surf". That means 9 different things to 9 different people.

And the result is the buy and sell loop till you find what you want. My point is what your asking of riders equates to more money and time.

I think having good dimensions of bottoms would help riders find what they want a little quicker. On the subjective side, everyone knows how a Superjet rides so that can be used as a baseline. The biggest difference would be riders having to convert numbers into what they want, or even better, what they want into numbers.

That is why you go to freerides....... There is usually a mix of ski's. You hang out here, make comments "Hey, I will be at SFF and would love to try different ski's" I guarantee everyone there will offer up their ski to try. I know I was letting a ton of peeps ride my Edge at Blue's Birthday Bash.

This! A million times this! I specifically went to Daytona to test ride different hulls. Bought the one I bought after test riding. Unless your mastery of the English language and math is superior to all, there's no amount of measurements and descriptions that will be equal to feet in holds.

Really it boils down to skill level and tray time on the hull. If it's a short wide hull. It will turn flat and fast. If it's a long narrow hull it will lean and carve. After that it's weight dependent. Those are the basics. Any good rider can ride any bottom deck. Length and weight determines how flickable it is going to be be aerial tricks.

I think someone posting up that you can't ride surf stance on a xfr tells exactly the problem. No one rides the same. I can rip a lake all day long on a xfr. Wot, chase boats. Turn on a 5 ft circle. Shut it off in the lake and stand on it for 2 or 3 minutes just floating. I can go straight from that to a superjet and fall off the first time I go to turn. It's all about tray time and being familiar on the hull you are on. My xfr was down for 4 months while I went 1100 and I got to where I could barrel roll my 701 superjet again. I could ride a spoon with a engine after a few tanks

For aftermarket. Get the best quality hull with the best reviews. It will last the longest and have the most resale value if and when you do sell it.

All year superjets set up properly= loved them. Freak same although my carbon freak don't carve for poop, Bob hull=hated it, predator felt heavy, needed more power but with good power it was nice. Liked most the Rickters I've been on, especially with the 155 pump setup. Won't even ride a kawi now...
