jetski insurance State Farm

I have read a few stories here that people are having issues with insurance coverage..
State Farm has been good for me
Sunk my ski back in 2008 and got ALL my parts and labor paid for to replace what was damaged from the salt water..
They will cover theft ,damage on the water or at home and sinking (your fault or not) and of course highway (hauling/towing) accidents..
You can put any $ amount value on your ski what you want covered.
For example, I have $20,000 on my ski and it cost $45 a month.
Ski sinks and it's gone, stolen, total loss on the road or anything and I get $20,000 for it.
Hope this helps anyone that is looking for good insurance coverage

What kind of OEM ski costs 20k?
A built one. I've seen a superjet with 20K invested between a billet PV motor and every other add on you can imagine.
But that's besides the point. I'm curious the specifics, as people have gotten rejected due to having state issued HINs and not manufacture issued ones, etc.

Progressive does factory skis as well. My blaster and SJ have been with Progressive for 2 years now. A/M skis is what everyone is having problems finding insurance for.

Its a shame builders cant or wont produce a manufactures certificate of origin like some other such form that could be used to get legit titles.

It must be different in the US. I live in Canada and had State Farm insuring my skis a few years ago. I called to increase my coverage and they asked me "why?" I told them "I added aftermarket parts and the value of my machines had gone up". Once they found out my skis weren't stock anymore, they wouldn't insure me. I had been with them for nearly 20yrs. It's a good thing I found out they wouldn't insure me before I had to make a claim...

Went through the Canadian chamber of commerce. Had to use the services of a lawyer and go though a list of stuff to comply and now I can provide a manufacturers certificate of origin with my hulls. I also went through transport Canada to obtain a manufacturer ID and I can also provide HIN numbers.

I have State Farm on our lake place, boats and ski's. As said above State Farm, insures PWC's as stated value, book value has nothing to do with it. Our SXR is very nice and has some mods so I upped the insurance value to 7k. My agent ran it thru underwriting and wanted copy of receipts for all parts proving it's added value. We got the okay 2 days after I sent the receipts.

Currently we are in the process of buying a new Rickter and again I called and described the ski to my agent and explained what a freestyle ski was and what you do with it. I also explained to her it would be registered and titled as a homemade watercraft. I told her I wanted 30k of value. She contacted underwriting and they said okay, $447 per year with 1k deductible and they also want receipts showing we paid that much for it.

Before someone asks, yes I have everything in writing from the underwriting dept. That all being said your average State Farm agent probably doesn't have a clue about stuff like this. Our family's lake place is at Lake of the Ozarks (LOTO) which has a lot of exotic and expensive boats so the insurance people around here know how to deal with highly modified watercraft.

I had no problems with my agent getting mine covered with all the aftermarket parts.. etc. etc . . of courses having receipts on file..
I asked on 3 different occasions from different people to make sure and I got the same answer .. yes your covered..
so I think it just depends on the agent you have and how much knowledge they have in the aftermarket world.
I just made sure I got answers from there CORPORATE OFFICE in case the agent gives misinformation

Let us know what happens when you get it registered and give your insurance a state issued HIN.
