Yesterday was a tough day for me and the entire South Florida Freerider crew.
One of our fellow riders and a very very close friend of mine was involved in a helicopter accident while training here in South Florida. Jonathon Desouza, was air lifted from the scene of the crash and his instructor died on the scene. Luckily for Jon, god was watching over him. Jon has injuries such as a broken lower back, swelling and bleeding of the brain "which is subsiding", broken ribs, and multiple small lacerations. Although he is doing well and is expected to make a full recovery, he is going through a very difficult time, especially since his instructor was a friend who he has spent much time with. Jon is the type of person that always makes people feel welcomed, he is the one making everyone laugh by doing ridiculous dances and telling funny jokes. Not only is Jon a phenomenal person but he's a extremely talented jetski rider. Flipping his 700cc Yamaha Superjet out here in the crappy Florida surf with no trim like a boss! Jon has his own detailing company and is putting himself through flight school, hoping to land a job flying for the Palm Beach Sheriff's office.
Jon gets on my Superfreak 1200 out back and manages to do back flips all day, he is just full of raw talent and energy! His first time on a unicycle last week and he was making all of us look bad hahaa. He keeps telling me after flight school he's going to get a new Superfreak or Rickter. After speaking to members of the South Florida Freeriders, they have agreed to pitch in, I myself am putting in $500 to get this charity going for him. I will take his new 770cc engine along with his other components and build the ski but we would like to present it to him when he leaves the hospital. If anyone could donate anything, even $5 would help that would be amazing. All he would need is a hull, he has all other components that are in great condition. Jon brings soo much light into every ones life and I would love to put a little back into his while he's going through this dramatic time.
I will be putting my time, sweat, and funds forward to make this happen. Any little bit of help from the X community would be amazing. This guy has brought so much positive energy into my life and I cannot stress how thankful I am to have him here today. I'm sure he will be at the Daytona Freeride as well and everyone could talk to him in person. THANK YOU X-H20!!! It's truly a miracle he's alive, not many people survive helicopter crashes.
