Christian, wouldn't spark energy numbers help? Idk, what other parameters would determine "better"? I personally like the ease of install and curve adjustability offered by the ATP, but, given the fact that the ATP uses the stock coil, I wonder what the spark energy difference is between the 2? Where is MattE when ya need him?

Well maybe, IDK but ATP also upgraded their FLAME with the Twin Spark 2 system or what its called. But i got the same theory, 2 ignition coils and only 1 fire pr coil pr 360 deg rotation gotta equal more spark energy BUT thats not necessary equals more HP on the driveshaft. I think the way to program the ATP is very clever, but on the other hand MSD is something you can do every place every day and again, IDK if someone could feel or messuare the more "precise" curve you are able to make on the ATP.
Either way you cant go wrong with any of them :)

Ok, well how about same curve back to back to back testing of MSD T/L-ATP Flame- ATP HX3 (with a lightened flywheel to make things a little closer) all with same curve and tell the difference? What I'm getting at is does one really offer a measurable amount of performance over the others, and by what measure? Or is it just the added timing that helps? We buy these things, we should know why. The OP is considering an ignition change one of these products to the other.

I'm pretty sure Aircraftsalz/josh and Lucas compared the two back to back and they swore the MSD was the hands down winner for their setups. Personally having used both and the ease and simplicity of the ATP setup there's no question for me. I can't tell much difference between the two in my current setup. Others may have a varying views, but I'm ATP all day now...and I'm running a gen 1 brain.
