I bought a used fcv , and the guy wasnt very friendly, so I am afraid to ask him... is there a recommended starting place on the setting of these? turns out??

Per Art mine is from the headpipe to the T, straight line off T overboard (pisser), perpendicular off T to restrictor to flow control valve to stinger. My fcv isnt the adjustable one, Art said to set to open at 3k rpm, so I just left out all the spacer washers.

bottom of T or inline of T??

That isn't really a valid question since one person could run the inline T to the chamber and another could run the bottom of the T to the chamber. The T should be going to the pisser and the chamber. Place the FCV on the chamber line.

I'm running a "red" one, located close to the stinger. For a restricter, I took a worn 2.5 seat (from a carburetor) and lightly ground a taper on the non grooved end. It presses into the inside end of the FCV. A little coat of grease on the brass helps to limit corrosion. 3+ years, and still working....

There is no hard and fast rule of where to put it, every setup is different. Put it somewhere and start testing to see what works best for your setup. There are so many variables with water pressure on skis that you can't just say 'do this'.

Prime example: years ago a buddy just couldn't get his pipe to warm up even though he was setup exactly like myself and freestylegeek. Well, after a lot of talking/checking, we finally found the difference. He had trim, using a Raider nozzle, and had actually used the visibility spout fitting for his second cooling line, so he had massive water pressure compared to us.

I run mine before the t right off head pipe
Set to open at 3# of pressure
I have tested this in every position and tried useing RPM to tune
this works best foor my set up

I use mine after the "T" within 3 inches of the stinger. Other side of "T" is going overboard to the pisser. I also have a mikuni primer fitting (water restrictor) between the FCV and the stinger. The idea is for the FCV to eliminate water going to the end source, mine being the stinger pipe and waterbox until the pressure overcomes the settings on your FCV and then its a straight open water line. For dual cooling I would recommend restricting water into the stinger/waterbox no matter where the FCV works best.

Email Art at Jetworks and tell him your set up, he will email you back within days and answer all your questions. Make sure you give him as much info as posssbile. Better yet give him a call and learn something from one of the all time masters of water flow control. IMO

If I remember correctly you set the FCV for approx 3psi, for what we are doing, with my single cooling I have a 4mm restrictor out of the head, the FCV is after the T on the branched side, plus I have a 2.0 seat approx 50 mm before stinger. Caution this works for my set up, and others in my area, type of riding and water temps

I just set mine at the ramp with the hood off and the ski on the trailer. Hold the FCV overboard and set it up to the RPM you need. As stated before, water pressures will vary depending on your cooling setups. I just make sure my FCV doesn't let water pass until high up in the RPMS. The water sprayed in through the B pipe screws is my only other cooling for the rubber in the exhaust system.
