Thanks, I love your signature, I rockered my sneakers so I don't pearl walking down the steps! I don't know how many times of thought of that while I was working on this rocker.

I am new to the stand up community I have been in the hobby for about 2 years now and I am thinking about doing this type of build to my sn. this was a great build, good work, came out nice. I am have a few question before I want to start this project. Id greatly appreciate if you could help

1. did you have to change or move anything in the engine bay after pulling the nose up?

2.Can you explain how you did pull up the nose (make it bend like you did)

3.With the tubbies have you had any issues with them cracking?

Yes I also know that it would be easier to buy an aftermarket hull but im not trying to spend that money on one.

1. No, but the waterbox was very tight. I lost about 8 off the front, after cutting the bumper -2, rocker-6.

2. I cut the bottom loose from the sides, then cut slices across every 2'', but careful not to come to close to your first cut. Stop about 2" from the edge. This will allow it to bend, but stay together as one piece. I drove in some shims to help the bend and ratcheted the nose up and back. I also twisted up a bunch of tie wire untill it pulled the sides back in together. I did most of my glass work from the inside.

3. No, buy thick fiberglass off the internet, not from Home Depot. Put down a layer, then sand smooth, put down another thick layer, sand, and then a finish layer of thin glass that will lay down easy. Make sure you sand the area first that you are going to glass to. You want to take off any paint/gel coat before doing any glass.

AM hulls are getting cheaper and cheaper. Be prepared to spend $200 on resin, $200, fiberglass, paint, paint brushes, sand discs and paper, turf, contact cement, ect, ect. The amount of hours it is going to take. I had fun, but it was alot of work!!!

thank you for taking time to explain this to me

1. what resin and fiber glass did you use for the nose and the tubs and deck

2. Did you run into any major issues with the over project

3. was adjusting the exhausted an issue with the shortening

I can answer your first question..
Epoxy resin, and either 1208 or 1708 biaxial fiberglass. Also, for tight curves, a lightweight fiberglass cloth works well. 6-8 oz s glass or e glass, either one.

No problem man! Where are you from? Welcome to the x :)

I'd recommend us composites for all of your fiberglassing needs. Very reasonable prices, and good stuff.

2. Sanding the glass smooth, is just a lot of painful work. Put a 36 or 80 grit disc on a grinder. Do most of sanding with this. Be very careful with especially with the 36 grit, it will take off alot fast. Sand glass edges out nice inbetween coats to save time later, and make it smoother. If the foam in your tray isn't wet, i wouldnt bother de foaming it, just shape it how you want it. Do as much glass work as you can from inside the hull.
3. No I just cut it off 4" shorter from the inside. Save that piece, you may be able to use it later. I threw mine out, but needed some 2" stainless thin walled pipe later in the project for silicone hose routing connecting the water box to elbows.

Sunny, Pismo Beach, CA. Been some nice weather and waves recently. Got to ride twice last week for my Bday.
I'm majorly jealous of you. Wisconsin weather has sucked this winter. Coldest winter I've ever been in. The midwest isn't having much fun. lol

Great job on the build. Question for you, why did you choose to cut the bottom away from the sides and shape it up vs making long cuts up to the bond line to bend the whole nose up? I've seen it done both ways, just curious your thoughts on it.

It made my ski shorter in the front by doing it this way. Also, I wanted my bond lines to dissapear into the nose.
