Aftermarket starters don't last and aren't as powerful as OEM Mitsuba starters. But new OEM starters are really expensive from Yamaha so JetManiac is rebuilding clean oem starters to fill the gap between new oem and a/m starters. They are totally disassembled, cleaned and rebuilt as necessary and finished with multiple coats of black satin epoxy paint.

Bendix (aka: starter drive, idle gear comp.)



Again, aftermarket bendix just aren't up to OEM quality, but new oem are really expensive. Failures of OEM bendix are usually due to water intrusion or the inner metal weight plate ears breaking off allowing the weights to move around, and then break their locating spring allowing bendix to stick open.

JetManiac OEM bendix are inspected for inner weight plate having all 3 ears intact and replaced if needed, gear teeth and end surface condition, bushing ends are inspected and polished, finally they are cycled repeatedly to check front reverse drag and action, and lubricated with special Corrosion X HD lubricant protectant. Many are rejected for various other issues. Only nice clean ones are used.

**If you have had bendix issues or are building a new motor, also make sure to check the soft bushings in the crankcase and inside the flywheel cover. Bendix should go in relatively tight and not rock much at all from side to side. The case side is especially prone to wear.
