Well, here we go -
I started off last year with a completely modd'd JS 550... it had it all, but it wasn't enough for me... then the ski bumped into a dock, and needed some repair to the nose. I decided to rebuild the entire thing with the addition of a 650 motor.
I will let the pictures explain the steps taken...
Started stripping her down:
Repaired the nose:
Just about ready for primer:
Stripping the bottom: PO used alllll kinds of filler to fill little imperfections in the surface, which in result, made bigger imperfections when the bottom got hit. I stripped it back down to the gel coat/fiberglass, and started all over using minimal filler where absolutely needed.
Finished bottom:
top taped off for primer, sealer, and paint:
And then I skipped a couple steps somehow - I must have been excited about finishing up the paint work - it was a pain in the ***... sand, sand sand, drink beer, sand, repeat sequence. The ski was pretty rough.
Finished product: Just did the turf yesterday, and it turned out great in my opinion:
Repaired nose with the *bling" accessories:
Hood padding with bump pad; I was sick of the pole hitting the hood.
Turfed the hand-pole pad - What a pain...
Lifter wedges:
'92 650 out of an X2 - westocoast 44mm intake, SBN 44mm carb, westcoast exhaust mani, westcoast pipe, oil blockoff, drain blockoff, motor is stock.
What do you guys think?
