I have a js550 I recently purchased, I rebuilt carb and installed fuel primer. Runs great in water but hard to start. Sometimes have to pick pump out of water to get running. Could this just be carbarator oUT of adjustment?
Newish battery? Worn out batteries can cause a hardstart issue as they don't deliver the full cranking amperage. Also make sure you have no air in the line fuel line.
I know on my piston port 550 its already hard to start when dead cold in water, having both of those issues mine was a complete no go in water unless I warmed it up on land and made sure the fuel line was air free.
Battery is a couple months old taken out of my 650sx. Don't think I have air in fuel lines because even after riding for awhile then shut off hot still hard to start. Maybe starter just isn't spinning fast enough?
Did you check your connections? You could take a wire brush and clean corrosion off and try again. Also check your ground! The ground is what causes bad starting for me
if its cranking slow than battery or starter circuit but if it cranks good but just wont start its probably lean and not getting fuel at cranking speed. your popoff could be too high or the motor is not pulling a strong enough signal to open the needle at low rpm.
Battery and starter connections seem good replaced starter with seadoo 580 still same problem. Pulled engine today and blocked off intake and exhaust and blew in pulse line air coming from front seal faster than I can put in hopeing this my problem when repaired I'll update
