Js550 stator help!

So my js550 won't start. It will sputter and ignite for a second if I let the start button go at the right time but won't keep running or start rift up. I took it to the shop and they told me all my electronics were good and my compression was 145/145 with spark. When it turns over it wants to sputter in reverse. So I'm thinking maybe something is backwards on the stator? I took the flywheel off and pulled the exciter off and it has two wires behind it not connected to anything. Should they be? Also any ideas why it would do that?

Here are the wires I'm talking about

Well, I had the same problem and there could be a couple of reasons why this is happening.

1. The pulser coil is on backwards

2. Timing is off so it'll start but won't run

3. sheared woodruff key

So the timing on mine was 2 degrees south, corrected it and put it back in, better but still no fire, the key is in good shape, so that leaves the coil, how would I go about reversing it

Well it is quite a simply task. Just remove it, then take the coil and sodder the wires on the opposite tribunals. After that, install it and see if it works

I believe the pulser coil is the smaller one because I had no spark then replaced the large coil and had excellent spark
