July Surf Conditions: inquiring minds want to know...

So, for us not from California, the land of migrant workers and stem cell research, what exactly is the surf like at Pismo in July?

Not as good as it was in the winter. the winter months are the times to be at pismo. It is definatly better than the surf at the texas ride (from what i saw in the pictures)

Winter is epic! Summer is small wind swell. Still much better than riding at a lake!

I believe the key to the question lies in the distance...
There is a lot that is better than a lake, however what is worth driving 2000 miles?

I guess if possible, provide quantitative data. 2-3'... 3-6'?

During the summer it is never smaller than 3' and can be up to 6'+
Is it worth a 2000 mile drive? Hmmm. Maybe.

Well, those pics do look better than what we get in TX (esp, in the summer).

it all depends if there is any storm activity in the southern hemisphere at that time..keep your fingers crossed there will be

I think it's definitely worth it. I drove 3000 miles to Florida back in January, sure the surf wasn't great, but the experience was incredible. I'm pretty sure you'll enjoy Pismo as a whole, and not just the ridding. Let me know when you'll be in town and I'll be glad to met up with you...

cuongs right..it will be fuin either way.chances are it wont be dead flat and im assuming a bad day at pismo is better than a good day in the gulf

I know its hard to tell (my cheap azz camera) but last aug. the waves were pretty nice.. peaky and hollow in the mornings, head high and bigger.. sunday was just a little windy (onshore 5 mph) yes Mexico looks great but thats trick photography !! lol J/K.. no really my shots are from 100 yards away with no telephoto lens only useing to zoom button and a 1.5 gig 8 year old camera..

looks like a bunch of people are getting intrested.. I'm starting to get calls from across the nation about the weather, surf, camping..
