Freestyle Just cruising around the lake on a AM ski??

Just looking for some input on how an AM ski would be for cruising around the lake when not focusing on tricks. Hull suggestions, etc....

You'll want something that rides real flat...none are great at it but some are much better than others. There are some hulls that are more "freeride/surf" oriented that would probably be better

SXR-FOREVER

Finally Flippin
My Matrix is perfect for those two things. I can carve and flip across the giant lake I live on without an issue.

I'm not sure who is making them anymore, though, now that Trinity Composites has stopped.

No tricks?
Why not a new SXR 1500?
Why fuss with A/M garbage, 4 cycle gets great fuel economy and small to medium boats will be terrified of you!
How you get to this point when he says "when not focusing on tricks" and asking about aftermarket hulls is beyond me.

What he's trying to say is why be on the lake with an after market hull cruising? Why not a recreational ski? Superjet or sxr if your not doing tricks? Some of our am skis are strictly flat water and run 1000cc+ motor with 49s and a kart tank so the fuel doesn't last long. Some other am hulls are strictly surf skis and run bigger tanks. That's what it sounds like he's after. I own a phantom and run all the big parts but you won't catch me chasing a boat , not because I can't but because my boat it set up strictly for flat water freestyle. I can go chase a boat and what not but I may strand myself trying to get back to shore with no fuel. I don't plan on putting a 5 gallon tank in my ski ever. Why? Because I'd want to do tricks if I had an am hull but not with 5 gallons. I'd rather just buy a junky superjet to cruise and putt around. I think that's what @Jetfiend was implying to...

I ride my footrocket all over the lake, chase yachts etc. just fine, rides real flat. Best to ride some skis and see what you like best.

I agree that a phantom is great. But for starter-riders, the Chan hull is Good place to start ; especially for the money. An aquabot it is a good flat ride as well.

The MX style AM hulls (Viper/Reaper/etc.) are a nice compromise. You get a light ski with the rocker nose for fun. You will never flat water backflip though.
