Just did a pump swap

Sorry to bring this up again but do I want to flood the area behind the shoe so it sqezzes out as I set the pump or just seal it like you would when installing base like in a house or caulking Windows??? With the pump already bolted in. I feel like it would be good to fill that area a little but it sure will be a nightmare to pull the pump if I do.

I just use 100% silicone in acaulk gun both from home depot. I put a very thick bead around anything touching thehull, wipe flush with a gloved finger, clean up anymesses with acetone.

Had a boatput together with excessive silicone or 5200 and it took me almost 2 hours toget the pump out.

And dont use silicone that is the most garbage sealer there is.(it has its uses but a jetpump is not one) Ever tried to remove silicone after it's cured? You can rub it right off with your finger effortlessly. What do you think the water is going to do?

Not sure what silicone you are using. The stuff I use I have to take it off with a wire wheel. Sure you didn't buy a silcone blend? It has to be 100% silicone. There are caulk hybrids right next to the 100% silicone. Those dissolve.
