Just Purchased 2013, give me some opinions!

Hey guys, New to the forum. I have read the sticky above top to bottom, but I still have some questions. This is not my first standup. I have owned a handfull of kawa 650-750s, but never a superjet.

That leaves me with what i just purchased last week, a brand new overstock 13' superjet.

First question is how can I get a more freestyle setup? My goal is to flip by the end of summer
-grate (which one and why)
-plate?
-adjustable trim?
-pipe
-prop maybe a 12/15?
-footholds (best kit?)
-Best helmet?

Should I just save for a better hull?

Sorry for newb questions, I have been on the motocross scene for over 15 years, but as I dive into this sport I'm lost in the aftermarket world.

So enlighten me please. I would love your 2 cents.

If your talking about flipping off a wave, thats do able. If your looking to flat water flip, buying a 2013 is not economical. So much needs to be changed to get the 2013 to flip flat water. You would be better off selling that and buying an already built flat water ski. Or modifying an older cheaper super jet.

As you read the SN (square nose) 1995 and older had one style hull. The 1996 to 2007 has a(round nose) style, much better. Then 2008 to present has a RN hull but its changed around some, also the pump is set back (different drive shaft length), amongst other things.

Early style RN are cheaper and also better for freestyle, IMO. Also the newer style RN cost more to buy, so you will have less to use to modify it.
The new style RN is much better for carving.

Thanks for the info! I'm already looking through the skis for sale. So what your saying is that no matter how much parts I dump into it, it still will not compare to modding out an older SN? Ive also thought about just buying a hull, and transplanting all my stuff to that, then mod down the road.

To flip off a big wave wont be an issue. To do so off your own setup wake, youll need quite a bit; more than the average person would invest. Im thinking trim, shorten the hull, of course b pipe, head, prop, msd, footholds, quick steer, probably a bigger motor etc.And that still wont make it easy. Youd be better off getting an aftermarket hull. Since its a new ski i personally wouldnt get to crazy and would just enjoy a limited setup. Do the stuff I mentioned minus shortening the hull for now and youll love the setup. It will be a great all around boat

There is a lot of lack of information here lol. So where do you ride? Mainly surf/ocean or a bay/river or a dinky lake/pond? If a pond or lake and looking to flat water flip then you gotta sell it and do what guy above said...get a built an finished flat water hull. Then ride a lot and get skills developed.

Off large boat wakes (45 plus footers like we have on the regular around here ) you would need foot holds, head, pipe, trim, and you can flip that 2013. But if your really looking to flip I'd forget buying a older super jet all along because your still in the same boat. It will only be flip worthy in the ocean or large boats. Very large.

thanks guys, Ive decided to just either A) buy a hull and transplant, or B) just buy a complete built flat water ski.
Most likely option B though, might as well have a extra ski laying around. any particular hulls recommended for the bigger guys? 6'4'' at 215lbs?

All i ride is river/lake.

l'm a Superfreak fan and for the money the short Titan is the way to go.Thats if you are willing to spend your money on a new hull. Otherwise there is always a number of used hulls for sale on here that would be less costly.

l would try to find some ride events around you and check out some different hulls. Most guys will let you take their skis out and try them.Just respect what you ride

Yeah don't waste time on a old super jet. If you have the funds ( seems not a issue ) get a full length hull like said above, rickter evo, vision, superfreak, predator would be what you'll love.

If you can afford to go that route then yes that would be the way to go. But alas I do not.

I think the 2013 will hold is value. Not a lot are sold per year. You can buy a 2000 RN for $3950 or a 2011 ish for around $6000. Its more wise to buy the ten year newer ski. Everything has a lot of service life left. The 2000, high chance a lot of worn, crank bearings and such. Also a 2000 year you don't know if you have SBT parts or OEM. High chance OEM in the 2011 ish. Use your 2013 for a couple years, then sell it. The whole time looking for the deal on a built aftermarket set up.

This^^

currently figuring how much i would like to drop in a ski then i will go from there. The plan is to tuck away funds until the right deal comes through on the classifieds. Im going to ride the hell out of my superjet the rest of the summer, then come winter I will buy something. I'm leaning towards a dvx hull, hopefully I can find one fully built. If not, I'll purchase a hull and build it over winter since I will have some funds and time to burn on it. Thanks!!
