Kawasaki 750sx freestyle build.

Hi everyone!

I'm a beginner jetskier from Finland. (sorry for lousy english)
I bought a Kawasaki 750sx last year, and rode it with stock hull for the summer.
When the winter came I desided to build it for freestyle.
So this is quick post of the build process, more pictures than words.
Hope you like pictures, there is alot. :)


So this is what I got last year.
It had some modifications done to the motor and so, but the hull was stock.

So I cut the tray open and shortened 12cm from the rear.

Before the evening the nose was destroyed also.

So then I got the first glance of the profile coming up.

Next was the time for some foaming.

Then got the foam out and continued with fiberglass from the inside.

Then there was "some" sanding to do. Sanding is licoriceing boring, so no pictures.

Next was time for the pole.

Motor got 81mm bore and new Wiseco pistons.
R&D head + single intake with mikuni 46mm.

So the ski is no ready and running great!
Hull modifications seems to work great. It is a blast to drive.
I would like it to have more power, so a flat water flip would be possible.
From the boat wake it does flip.

I will ride it like this for the summer, but probably on winter I will try to boost the power&pump somehow.
Any suggestions on those are more than welcome!

Thank You. Stock pump with Solas 13-18 prop. I tried with solas 9-15 but it actually got worse. It did not boost low end as I thought it would.
I'm not sure is that because my wear ring is not in 100% condition, gap between impeller and pump is too big.
What do you think. Should I change the wear ring and then try different props, or go for bigger pump? Which pump?
 
I built a 750 sxi with a 701 61x motor. Stock pump. Everyone I talk to has told me to do the 9/17 big hub or a 10/18 big hub. I havnt had the ski on the water yet I just finally got my ride plate. But I think for the area I ride which is a lot of rivers I'm leaning towards the 9/17 big hub. As far as you ring the gap between you prop and ring will make a difference. I forget what the gap is supposed to be if someone can chime in on that. But if it's to big a gap it won't create the suction to load properly.
 
very cool build looks fantastic! just goes to show if you know what youre doing you dont have to have a yamaha to do freestyle.. i did notice the chamber for the pipe youre running is the factory mod chamber.. you could swap it out for the 750 limited chamber which is much fatter and the exhaust comes out of the center instead of the end.. this will give you a nice bottom/ mid range power bump over what youre running now.. the mod chamber you have will have a better top end.

Limited pipe would be a good mod for next season. If anyone has one for sale, I'm interested.
Also I'm thinking of some modifications to the trim, I should get a bit more travel to the nozzle.
Also the trim lever should be possible to pull with smaller force, maybe some hydraulic system for that would be great.

Has anyone made a new wear ring to the pump? Ii I understood right, those are not for sale.
I was thinking of fabricating one out of stainless steel.
 
For your trim do this. Remove the little ball end on the trim end of the nozzle. Replace it with a little wheel and or bearing. Something that spins and you can wrap a cable around. Then take your trim cable from where it's coming out of the ski wrap around the wheel or bearing and then mount the end of the cable to the hull up near where the cable is coming out of. Now when you pull the lever it should act like a pulley system and make it a little easier to pull.

Yes, that was the original idea. But then I will have half of the travel and that is not good.
I would need even more travel than I have now.

So there is normal bicycle brake lever with cable running through stock bilge line.
Then there is a metal piece bolted to the pump where the cable connects.
Works really well, but you cannot use it when any power is on. I have to release the throttle, wait for a second, pull the lever and then go back to the throttle.
I will try to get some hydraulic system done during winter. It hopefully helps to this issue.

I do got some other modifications on my mind also.. :)
I got bought "some" (read poopload) used parts from one retiring racer.
So atleast 12vane set back MAG pump is going in with MSD total loss electronics.
Also I got parts to assemble other motor: ported cylinders&cases, rebuild crank, heads, pistons...

So only thing I'm missing is limited pipe from Factorypipe. Hopefully I will find one.
 
If you do not do a Mag pump I have a Nice Built Stock Pump with the Large Hub Skat 9/17 with Bored Nozzle and Blowsion Cone. It's Powdercoated Black, Brand New Wear Ring, Oem Bearings , and Tapped For Dual Cooling.

Have a Built 763cc motor and a Factory Pipe
