I've got the 849 on mine. I had to add a light flywheel and a pipe and a head to really wake it up.

Shonuff, would love to hear more about what your running. What kind of gas are you running? Pump, Carbs...etc etc...Getting bored with my settup and want to go bigger.

Currently have Art's "BlackJacked" SX-R carbs but I just bought 44mm BlackJacks to replace them (but since I only have one pulse line, I'm in a spot as to what to do now (reed spacers with pulse line?)
Stock intake
Stock Reeds
Stock Crank
Stock electrics with MSD enhancer (2003 electronics)
Jetinetics lightweight charging flywheel
FP Wet Pipe
TDR Waterbox

Thanks! Go with the hull, but I'd go -4 for sure if I had it to do again. The power increase from the loss of weight is unreal. It is more of a power increase than the pipe. If you were me, what would you go with next? Carbs? Porting? Compression? (I'm only at 155). Can I throw some Mikuni 44's on my stock intake? Just found a pair...

If you don't mind eating a crank in the next few years, I say get it up to 200 or so. I don't like buying race gas but I LOVE the way it smells. My wife, inexplicably, does not.

I'm with you on the carbs, I just picked up those blackjacks and am about to do my own porting on my intake . . . so . . . I may be buying a new intake soon after I f**k mine to oblivion.

Then send it to Art in the Winter for porting. Killing a crank is just God's way of saying get a stroker.

Cheap crank gets pricey when it cracks your cases. You might want to give Tim at ZForce racing a call about porting your motor, he does good things with Kawis. The SBN 44 will probably not give you much if anything over the 40 I body (38). Put some SBN 46's on a ported top end with 180psi and you should have a very fun ski IMO.

So everyone seems to say...compression/porting first. When I rebuild this winter that will be the plan.

I've got a lotta work done by Harry at group k . The bb kit is a smooth throttle response not snappy like shonuff said a b pipe n flywheel makes it scream ! But there a reliable company

BTW, I have some of Art fully Blackjacked 40mm I bodies, he doesn't do the mod anymore on them because you can't get them tuned perfect, they load up a bit at certain circumstances and make you think you need to lean it out a bit more (I know this from experience). He now does the thin tube atomizer on them now, just like he does with the Yamaha 38s.

I'm also getting some BJ44s from him to replace the 40s. Yes the cross over is filled as well. If anyone wants to give these a go, hit me up. I'd let em go for $225 with manifold.

For my setup, Art rebuilt my crank, ported my cylinder, 84mm Wiseco (820cc), JSU head (can't remember dome size), Jetinetics flywheel, Art's own curve in my Advent, and Power Factor pipe. I'm pretty happy with it. I need to work on my pump more and get it and impeller match to the engine (or get a mag). I just haven't had much time to play with it this last year. It doesn't hit as hard as I'd like down low, but it's obvious when it gets on the pipe.

Not sure how far along you've come with the pulse situation, but you can do the reed spacer as you've said, or you can drill your rear side of the case for a new fitting. I actually just T'd off the stock fitting and ran it to both of my Novis....yes, it works just fine. My recommendation is to go the reed spacer route if you dont want to T anything off. You can order the Brass barb fitting that the pulse line hooks to from Kawi, it has a part number. Drill to the appropriate size and tap them in with a brass hammer and some green loctite. I did this on a few motors and never had an issue.
