Large hub 12/17 skat swirl on the 650 pump vs 12/17 c-75 skat mag prop with tbm on the 144. No comparison in whitewater surf conditions and low end umfph.

I would really expect there to be a comparison between those two setups. Sure the props are similar but that's it. Kinda like saying a 753cc stock cylinder with 84mm pistons and stock stroke doesn't perform as well as a 753cc 5mm ported stroker with an 81mm bore. Not trying to be a jerk...just saying.

The only real difference was the TBM stuffer? Both same pitch big hubs. The difference was so big its not even funny, infact I have not even ridden a kawi pump ski since switching over. I'm not arguing which is better, just stating that my 650 non stuffered setup was not even in the same league as the 144... same setup but with a stuffer. I plan on putting a stuffer in the 650 pumped X2 I am building over the winter, but I am worried the yammy hookup I have grown to love is just not going to be there. If switching to a kawi mag will get the hookup where my SJ is then I will spend the money, especially if I drop a billet cylinder motor in it...lol For the record, I like the kawi pump 100x better for servicability.

Large hub so i assume it a c75 too ? The tbm make an huuuuuuuge difference on the kawi pump i've ride mine with and without night and day on hook up.
Was the impeller set back ? how much ? this make a difference too .

Impeller on the 650 pump was an 800 SXR Skat C75 cutback 7mm to allow it to bolt into the 650 pump. The yamaha prop was not setback. I am glad to hear the TBM might be the missing weak spot on the kawi pump, but with what I am looking to put in the X2 it might have to go 145mm mag.

as far as the kawi mag pumps for a heavily modded bigbore 850 what are the advantages for going with the 145mm over the 142mm or vice versa. Low end performnace in mind.

My thinking was that a 145kawi mag would perform as close to a 144 yammy mag as possible. I am not sure if this is right or wrong, but there is not alot of info out there on the comparisons between kawi and yammy mags. I emailed xmetal if they had any input because I would be running one of there motors, but they said they could not make any recommendations with kawi mag pumps and there bigger yammy motors, which is understandable. They suggested I contact Skat, which I have not done yet but its getting close to the time I have to order the pump so might be making some calls this week.
