Kawi Sxi Pro carb problem?l

We put a brand new rebuild kit in both my carbs... didn't fix it. Since then, me and another fellow board member re torn down both carbs at home istead of a lakeside rebuild, and i put a new head gasket on. Tomorrow i will install fuel filters...one coming right out of the tank, and another closer to the carbs. Hopefully that will fix it.

But after riding it around for only a few minutes (i mean a few, like moments), it is boiling the water coming out of the pisser... then it starts to be sh!tty. It runs perfectly and cool all day long on the trailer with the hose, but doesn't run worth hell in the water.

well that sounds like the hose from the pump is clogged.

FWI- did you find crap in the tank??? seems like this is becoming a bigger problem as of late.

Yeah, there was a lot of specks of stuff, probably was clogging the lines/carbs. I also replaced the short fuel line which runs between the 2 carbs, it had some cracks in it.
When I first took it out on the big lake, it ran crappy, so I would just nail it WOT for 20 seconds or so, then back off. I did this several times and it seemed to improve with each WOT run, until it started running just fine, like it always did:brap::bigok:!

try this at the lake
pull the hi and lo speed screws (remember the settings!)
stick the hose on a can of carb cleaner in each hole and blast away
while looking down the throat of the carb to see where fuel goes into the venturi
make sure passages are clean
reinstall screws and run her!

well unless some of the crap from the tank got in the fuel filters in the carbs, they should be good. fuel tank clean, cut the wires back?? did we do that first? I think we did. faulty stop button?? or ignition starting to go???

Mine was doing the same thing but its not anymore. I have a 98 sxi pro. What seems to have cured the problem for me was to remove the line going to the fuel tank check valve/1 way valve. That hose travels up in the pole and terminates somewhere. When you continually sub or lay it on its side in the water, water gets in the tube I think and then goes into the tank through the vent. Eventually your gas gets contaminated with water.

I hooked up a small foot long section of hose to the breather nipple and hooked it inside the engine compartment. Its only sucking air into the tank and not passing air into the engine compartment, so no danger there. I havent had a problem the last 3 times I went out on the lake, whereas I was having problems the previous 2 times.
