Excuse my ignorance but I have never experienced a blown o ring... What are the signs? Is it when the pisser sputters exhaust? What about water in the cylinder is that a problem?

Performance drops suddenly, as if it's running on one cylinder.

you will get the syptom of it runs great on the trailer and for the first 12 feet then it starts missing etc
you take it back to the beach and clear it and it runs awesome out of the water
this is only at the start , once the o ring goes it runs crap all the time

d-roc... this may sound crazy.. but when i had my square nose i blew the front orings constantly - it was one of two things, either the wrong o-ring or it was installed the wrong way round... im sure you checked that (each time it blew)... but might be worth double checking its not the wrong oring

I forgot!
with my total loss i really don't feel much performance loss, i can hear the pisser sputtering. that is what set me off to go back to shore. I am also now running dual cooling on my setup. not sure if my motor got too hot at one point with single cooling and that is what caused the sleeve to drop but i had the pump out while getting the cylinder decked and thought...ah what the heck.

ha! my motor is making power!!!! yeah! i know there is more power to be made in my setup too because i have no piston wash and when i almost run out of fuel and go a bit lean the motor wakes up alot. Steve, come over anytime you get the old mats off. lol.
