Ok here it goes...I have a feeling I may get burned at the stake for bringing this up, but I need some honest answers... I realize this has been beat to DEATH, but I'd like some specific advice. (yes I've searched and lurked for years) Here's my situation... I've got a slightly modded SXi with the following goodies - Factory wet pipe, Factory pipe water box, R&D High Comp head, 0 degree UMI bars, ODI grips, finger throttle, quick turn plate, bilge, 10/18 Skat, REND ride plate, Westcoast intake grate, Footstraps, pole limiter, and some other misc stuff I'm forgetting. She's no beauty contest winner, but I'm fairly happy with the performance - power wise (for now). It took MANY hours of wrenching and tuning to get to where I am now. It finally hits hard and without hesitation. I picked it up fairly cheap initially, and in many pieces. Right now I'm torn between holding on to it or selling it and looking for an SJ (probably a SN). I really think I want to get into the SJ craze. I love freestyle (at least trying to!) and I know I'm limited with the heavy SXi and it's lacking low end. However, I know that the only thing within my budget (around 2k) would be a lightly modded 701 SN. I don't want to sell my boat and be wanting more out of the SJ that I just picked up (requiring me to dump more money into it than anticipated). I'm guessing there are a few other guys on here that have been in this situation before. So my question is... What type of mods (and prices) are necessary on a SN that would get me to roughly the same level of punch I have with my SXi? (If any?) Is finding such an SJ on a 2k budget plausible? Disclaimer - I have never rode an SJ. I'm just going by the hours and hours of time I've wasted reading the X. Thanks for any input guys...
