Kill switch sticking

I have a 92 superjet and the kill switch where the lanyard goes stays up sometimes and does not shut the ski off. I have oiled it and talked it apart but when I put it back together it does not always go back down.

it happens with cheap aftermarket ones , we had same problem, ended up grinding the little lip off ... defiantly screw idle down otherwise s4it can go sideways

What you want to do is just brush it off then torpedo your ski into someone’s outboard. At least that’s my preferred method :)

Saw a 650sx go full kamikaze across the river this year. Right when the guy loaned it out. Totally destroyed the entire ski. Luckily no one was hurt. Proper lanyard use and a kill switch are absolutely critical for riding a ski at any time.

They can be stubborn. Instead of talking to it take it apart yourself. Youre better off used oem anyways. That and a low idle.

I run a ziptie and almost no idle so even if something fails it dies.

This is extremely BAD advice and almost shouldn't be allowed on this site. This is a huge potential for Murphy to kill someone. There is so many things that can go wrong, and if a person follows this advice and willingly disables a safety device. And someone gets hurt or dies because of it, good chance your gonna go to prison.

Can't fathom any reason at all to ever bypass the lanyard system other than sheer inexperience/ignorance

Ride 6 footers 3 to 4 seconds apart and tell me how fun getting that lanyard on is. Ill wait.
I've almost straight up drowned in the surf dude. I ditched a built round nose to poseidon. To save my own life. I've rode 25ft waves at crescent city. I still run a lanyard. It's common sense man. I can't say I haven't ever ran a zip tie. But we are all young and dumb at one time.

Ive watched my ski idle strait towards rocks cause a lanyard failed at the cord. Been stranded multiple times because of broken clips. Almost lost my life against a rock wall in an 8 ft washing machine fumbling to grab the end of the stupid thing.

Call me dumb all you want but i dont screw with lanyards in big water anymore. Zip tie, no idle, and a big ole primer plunger to show just how stupid i am.

6 ft isn't big water. 8 ft isn't big water. It doesn't matter if it's 30ft waves. Your taking others safety into your hands.

The most Ignorant part of the entire post is admitting to a lanyard breaking, and watching your ski leave you. Imagine if your throttle stuck and your ski left your ass in the ocean. But that could never happen. O wait. It has at a very well known freeride and almost smashed a guys ski on shore.

Do what you want. If I see dumbasses with no lanyard I call em on it and won't ride with em. Those guys usually have primers though and spend more time wrenching and talking about their skis than actually riding.

Listen dude Im not trying to start a war here. Riding 6 footers on lake erie is completley different then the ocean. Its not even the same sport.

If im bopping around chasing boats on a nice day i run a lanyard. On a wave day just getting to the beach break is a win. Waves combining and cancelling each other, bouncing off rock walls...on those days the idle is 0 and my throttle is part of the start process.

Dont worry, i wont lose sleep knowing you wont ride with me

They used to sell 3 wheelers. And cars without seat belts. Wtf does any of that matter. A lanyard is a safety device. And when operated as intended. Is extremely effective. Getting sucked into a wave is part of the risk of riding. Just because a guy is scared, doesn't give him the right the neglect others immediate safety. Make it a joke all you want. It isn't.
