Klotz skicraft smell

Any racing oil will work fine but it typically doesn't have the same corrosion barrier as something with petroleum and butene. Do a thorough blow out at least twice before you put it away.

If it’s TCW-3 it will have the corrosion inhibitors which SkiCraft is and why it’s better to run it in skis rather than some of the other klotz labels. Just because it’s synthetic base doesn’t mean it doesn’t have corrosion inhibitors.

However I still fog all my engines after riding. I like Klotz FogOn because, you guessed it, that smell.

Yes. We have a DASA 900 running on HP Marine, no issues with valves.

Amsoil Interceptor is PV Specific though.

I run Interceptor in my XS 900 but the only thing I dont like about interceptor is that its yellow/clear-ish and I always forget if my gas is mixed or not lol.

Klotz may have improved their product? I ran through a case 20 years ago in a 750 and found a lot of cylinder rust that I never saw before or since. I still run it in everything else because it smells good..

Smells good... for the first few rides. Until you become nose blind. I only really notice it when I fire it up on the trailer. After that it's only the folks in canoes that will smell it. Any good oil (TCW3) will be good for wear. Its corrosion that's the killer. Forget cylinder wear, people need to be way more concerned with their cranks when the ski's are sleeping. If you're cyls are dicked you have a tune or temperature management problem.

Ok no problem. I did a rust test between a few brands of oil. Using a uncoated nail coated in oil. Spray a heavy rusting agent on them. Amsoil and castor 927 did the best. Klotz skicraft did the worst. So I’m going to go with either Amsoil intercepter or hp marine. Do you think the hp marine is fine for a freestyle machine with powervalves then?

I fog my engines after every ride and don't worry about it, been corrosion free for 30 years......
It has become part of my post ride ritual and I actually enjoy it. It gives me a chance to get all the water out of the bilge, give the engine compartment a quick look for issues and consume and ice cold beverage, perfect end to a day of riding.

Ben, you are over thinking this. You took an uncoated nail do do a test. There is no part inside an engine that is of the same makeup as that nail. You are comparing applies to moonpies. Every oil listed here by different members will work for their application. If you are running PV's, then get an oil that is save to use with PV's.

I’m trying to find an oil safe for powervales that is tcw3. Other than klotz

Ooo a good oil debate.....
Why TCW-3 then? An API-TC is arguably a better oil for high stressed engines and something like Seadoo XPS or Amsoil Interceptor is even developed for use with power valves.

I guess for more corrosion protection. But your right. I’ve been running Amsoil dominator and I think I’ll stick too it. It’s been burning very clean. Im just over thinking this lol. I need to just ride. Still waiting on my Krash to ship . For now it’s only the 550
