Knee braces 2017

I can feel I'm getting to the end of the line with my right knee. Age, MX crashes, repetitive twisting getting in and out of vehicles, torn ligaments etc. have taken their toll and I'm left with this sloppy, clicking excuse for a joint.

I'd like to get through our next Australian summer before probably having some form of surgery in the cooler months. I figure another summer has come to (almost) pass for those in the northern hemisphere and maybe some of the latest model knee braces have had a workout.

Just seeking opinions on what is currently the top knee brace for our sport. Have read various threads and one of the major problems seems to have been that of braces slipping down when wet.

I know this is an issue that has been addressed in the past. Just wanting to know if a new arrival has raised the bar on 'brace performance.

I just tore my MCL 2 weekends ago. I am going to try to ride in my Pod MX braces and see how it goes. I've obviously used them for moto but also snowboard in them so there really isn't any reason they shouldn't work.

I too have a full helping of wrecked bits...joints, neck, back...but this has helped me immensely. I used to go with Ibuprofen and Tylenol to help my knees but have since developed either an allergic reaction to, or intolerance for the IB. Until just recently I found out that if the Ibuprofen causes any form of what looks like light surface abrasions on the skin, or canker sores, or anything of the like...STOP TAKING IT IMMEDIATELY!!! I know this is not a solution for the knee brace consideration but it will help you get to ride in more pain free comfort. Since I have been on this Turmeric, there has been an unbelievable improvement in the joints. It's primary function is supposed to be a potent anti-inflammatory but it has to be doing much more then that. I have damage in the discs in my lower back and had a displaced disc in my neck at the base of the skull from a severe car wreck. Since being on this stuff both of these areas have not been bothering me nearly as much. I had knee surgery about 8 years ago also as a result of the wreck, lost 40% of the outer meniscus from being broken off, the doctor said this operation will make the joint feel much better...WRONG. I spent the last almost 8 years in more pain on that knee then the other side which had the same thing happen many years prior but I allowed it to fuse back together on its own instead of surgery. I wish I could have gone back in time and said no to the operation. But since being on Turmeric that bad side has been virtually problem free. Keep in mind that if there is too much swelling in the front or sides of the knees, it will force its way in to the back creating a bulge behind the knee in between the two tendons. This is called a Baker's Cyst. I believe this has started to happen with me, if the bulging is rather small and not really noticeable, you will notice it by kneeling down with the knee at a sharp bend. When you try to stand up and straighten the joint it will not be easy and rather sore in the back until you can work it straight again. Knees are so important for back support, they cushion the impact of everyday walking on concrete and hard impact landings...either from a jump on the skis or just jumping down from the back of a pickup truck. They save the back from a lot of disc compression damage, anything you can do to save them is going to save your back too in the long run. This also goes for reducing inflammation to the joints, the inflammation is the body's method of protecting the damaged area from moving. When it gets excessive, it will cause pretty good issues elsewhere. First hand experience here...try Turmeric. All natural, available anywhere vitamins are sold and not expensive.

Subbed as well, multiple torn ligaments and other injuries over the years, interested to see what people have to say here. I was at the SIA convention in Denver last winter for my company and spent quite a bit of time in the knee brace booths they had every where for skiers. They have some pretty bad ass stuff out these days but none of the ones at that show were waterproof at all. While they all assured me they would work short term, they didn't think they would hold up for more than a summers worth of riding, and at 300-400 a pop that isn't gonna work for me. At least until I have no other option.

i cant seam to find one that wont slide down on bare skin but with my wetsuit on it stays up fine i have a titanium donjoy one i got after acl repair in november!
