What’s up guys!

Thought you guys might enjoy this.

I know it’s not a full Kawi, but it’s a Kawi at heart. Hydrospace hull, with a Kawasaki 1100 DI motor, built tastefully with great attention to detail by Steve Webster and Chad Cole of Kommander Industries!

Before the project started there were a few details which it had to fulfill with no deviation whatsoever.

This included:

  • Had to be turnkey and reliable
  • Adequate parts support
  • Runs on pump gas
  • Have good power
  • MOST importantly be FUEL INJECTED- this was a must.

As many of you know, there is a 2-stroke ban coming December 31, 2012 which is fast approaching.
This build was aimed at the goal of still allowing me to ride a standup despite the ban.

*** update:
Finally made it home!
Big thanks to the crew at Kommander Industries for building me such an amazing ski. It was everything I had hoped for and more.
The ski flat out rips, handling is superb, and the fit and finish is top notch.
took a short video of the ski running:

That's a real tight fit.

What's the top speed?

79mph gps.

jk.. haven't tested it personally yet. my best guess would be high 50's? 57-59 maybe. I have seen stock sxr 1100 swaps with no mods do that speed and they are putting out about 120hp.
This motor is around 130hp DI so throttle response should be pretty responsive, the hydro hull from what i have noticed is nose heavy so im sure that will scrub top end.

When i started the build I wanted the fastest top end as possible, something that would match my limited weber setup. But Steve made a point low end and mid range is where you would want to be, its where these types of skis spend most of the time.

I will GPS the ski when i take delivery soon.

BTW thanks for boring my nozzle ZERO! super clean, nice work!

I don't think she will ever be for sale she's my baby lol. Only Di hydro swap in the world right now I think.

But you never know I guess, everything can be "for sale " for the right price.

Thanks for the compliments gentleman!

So it will be illegal to ride 2-strokes in these specific areas ? I thought it was only a ban on manufacture. They wont be able to catch you anyway!

They have been pressing these bans for more then 10 years now. They are just now taking effect. I think if there was more of a demand for new standups the manufacturers would still be producing. Look at Yamaha, they were sposed to kill the SJ in 2011 but they keep producing it in limited numbers cause there is a small demand for it.

More info on the ban:

No the ban is targeted to any pwc that does not meet EPA 2006 requirements... So that means all carbureted skis.
Lake Powell, Mohave,Tahoe, mead will all follow the ban after the end of this year.

Did everything just swap in? or did you need to reprogram it? can you go into some detail on the specs of the build

i haven't taken delivery on the ski, so I am limited on build spec
