Krash Footholds

I bought a new to me ski a couple weeks back and couldn’t love it more.... don’t know why I waited this long to hop on a different boat. Dasa power is impressive . As my riding position and style has changed with the new ski, I started to loose confidence in the stock footholds on my Krash 50cal Footrocket. The previous owner had taken the stock footholds and cut the back off of them to be able to kick in easier - which I think is a great idea especially for the surf - but I was unsatisfied with the lack of “suction” per say the holds had on my feet. Sliding out while 10’ high is never a good feeling. Not knowing exactly How much foam / wedge / diamond turf I was going to use and where I was going to place it, I didn’t want to just start glueing junk to my nice stock turf so I made up some aluminum brackets that would bolt on and off where the existing adjustable footholds mount.

I added diamond turf to the bottom of the aluminum so it would not tear up the stock turf in the tray. Wherever any turf got glued to aluminum, I sanded down the aluminum with 36 grit to give it some tooth for the adhesive and turf to better stick to. The top of the aluminum panel is 4” of wedge in the back, then the rest is 1” plush foam from Blowsion that I hand carved to specifically fit the wrestling shoes I wear when I ride. The plush foam is also cut on an angle forward to promote the foot to slide ahead and not backwards. The first ride I took with it I after the additions to the holds I was amazed. First time I fell off the ski both feet were stuck in the holds.... not good. A simple trip back to the beach and four bolts loosened up and raised the top of the foothold...The beauty of everything being adjustable. Long story short if you are unhappy with your holds and want to experiment with making some changes or adding support here or there the bolt in aluminum is the way to go! If for some reason I was unhappy with the fitment of this set up, all I would have to do is unbolt everything, strip the foam off, and try something else! No modifying the tray or trying to take away some turf while leaving other turf in good shape in the tray. Simple, Effective, Ajustable!
