Krash KV997 Engine and Electronic Box Problem

Hi, wanted to see if I can get some help on my Krash Predator? Picked up the Predator from the airport freight first week of July 2020 and got to ride it one time. Less than two tanks of gas, the Predator died. Two issues:

1) Electronic Box is faulty. Worked with Krash for a couple of evenings on testing. Krash is sending replacement, been waiting for it since 27 July.

2) Rear cylinder is sucking in water when there's about 3 inches of water in the hull. This is where I can use help. Krash wanted a picture of the rear seal and said seal is good. Has any Krash owner with KV997 engine experience this issue? Turns out the water was coming in from waterbox.

How did you find water being pulled into the motor?

Ask krash how they recommend doing a leak test. That will tell you where the ski is sucking in water. Also check the orings in the head.

Thanks, I could probably rule this out... when I filled the hull with 3 inches of water, I did not see water splashing around the carb when cranking the ski over in my driveway with the hood removed.

I would definitely rule this out because that much water being pulled through the crankcase would have a major air leak and run away problem if started on a stand.

I would be asking why there is 3" of water while your riding around? When you park the ski, always pull it up high enough out water does not come in from the scupper or ass end up..

When the ski died, and I'm thinking it's due to the E Box being faulty. The bilge pump died as well, water got in during towing back. All fine now with new E box from Krash, warranty replacement.

Just wanted to mention what I’ve experienced with flooding and no engine leaks..

The ski breaking down, and being in tray trying to start it, (If you were) pushes ski low in water, bilge failing and Then towing the ski probably pushed water up your Ex outlet and into your rear cylinder via the exhaust pipe..

Water naturally follows the manifold runner rearward and into rear cylinder when it’s in the exhaust,

Once waters in the Exhaust and case, it all doesn’t come out @ first clearing.. it continues to drain in and blow out for awhile. It will seem clear then recollect and blow out again like it did the first time.. takes a bit of time and cranking, plus put ski on its side as upside down as you can get it... or upside down

Thanks, I'm hoping that's true. Would save me a lot of time. Should be getting E Box in a day or two, I'll follow-up. Just updating and you're right on source of water in engine. No issue now and been out riding at least 5 times since Krash warrantied E box.

Hey, just wanted to post my update on numerous parts shipments and issues that I experienced with my newly purchased Krash Predator (picked up first week of July 2020).

1) Electronic Box is faulty. Worked with Krash for a couple of evenings on testing. Krash is sending replacement, been waiting for it since 27 July.

I received a complete new E-Box in about 10 days after confirming it was faulty, minus the flexiglass and mounting hardware. Finally received all the hardware on Sept 11 2020. This resolved my no spark and electronic issue. Just wanted to follow up after at least 5 times out riding, no issue. Painful in having to replace parts in brand new ski, I was thinking Krash had all the bugs worked out. At least parts were free under warranty, waiting sucks due to no parts in the US.

***Other parts that I've to replace are starter bendix and the pick up behind the flywheel. One of the wire was broken, what a pain to replace. Both parts were delivered in about 5 working days. NOW THAT EVERYTHING IS IN PLACE, I'm hoping to take it out Sept 23, 2020 and I'm hoping I can ride it for a full day. This will be the second outing since I picked up the Predator first week of July 2020. I'm so glad I did not sell my 2014 SuperJet when I took delivery of the Krash Predator.***

Will you do an Engine Air Leak-down Test before you install it and run it? This Test can you give you the exact locations of any leaks.

I won't be able to due to lack of tools... I really wish I could do it before putting out on the water. I do feel better about the air leak because it idle smoother and not like it's idling lean due to air leak.

Get the tools, you can make plugs for the carbs, exhaust manifold out of sheets of rubber....... Then pump up the cases with air............ Spray soapy water all over the place. (Dont use 50 psi, just low pressure)............

For the Leakdown test, need to put the Gauge on the "Top" of the Tee and the Schrader Valve on the opposite side of the Hose. Pump to 8 psi and must hold for 10 minutes minimum with no drop. Spray soapy water all around the Engine interfaces, joints and penetrations.

Here are the Parts you need from hardware store:

I rode for several hours yesterday, two tankful of gas and man this Predator is fun when it's running. So much more playful than my 2014 SJ. I love the acceleration and throttle response.

- Anyone know of a ride plate that will help the Predator stay planted while turning? More SJ like, my riding skill is not quite there yet for the Predator.
- Anyone know if a SJ water box is a direct fit for the Predator? Both look very similar to me.
